I don't have trupanion, but I did end up getting PetPlan (http://www.gopetplan.com/). I was recommended this by a friend. She mentioned how she tried to call a couple of the claim departments for the various pet insurance plans and said that PetPlan was the quickest and painless to get to. Also, what I remember when I did some research, PetPlan had the best reviews, I’d suggest googling reviews for Trupanion, doing a quick google search I found this link, perhaps you can read the various user comments and make your decision from there: http://www.petinsurancepro.com/trupanion-pet-insurance-review/

thank you very much for the links:) i have been looking all over the internet and basically it said that trupanion isnt the best so i have looked into pests best insurance. it covers everything and i do not need to pay a deductible for any visit to the vet. it will be $42 a month because of that but if i dont need to pay a 100-500 deductible i am happy:) lol it even covers hip display and back problems corgis have

great to hear you found what your looking for. I'd suggest talking to the representative on the phone as they can explain certain things more clear than legal internet talk. Also, you might have certain waiting periods before certain parts of the insurance take affect. I know that I needed to take Kit in to get a full body physical and A-OK status to report on his medical records and cut one of the waiting periods down… hope that made sense.

I have Petplan for my pets. It is an older company that was in Europe and recently moved over to the US. They don't give you a limit on what they will cover, just an annual limit (like $12,000). I worked at a vet for about 3 years and things I have learned from clients about insurance:

DO NOT GO WITH VPI.....they nickle and dime you and argue with every claim and barely cover costs, SPCA also does a lot of "it was a previous condition" when trying to get claims covered

I have heard some good things about both Trupanion and Petsbest but overall best reviews from clients were for Petplan

and basically, based on talking with a lot of people about insurance, many agree that they think if you put the monthly fee into a pet account rather than send it off to an insurance company you tend to SAVE money overall. If you really start calculating how much you spend on insurance over the life of the pet versus how much money you would have if you had just put the money in a savings account, it usually comes out that you may as well just save the money. If you think about it, if you go with the $40/mo plan, thats almost $500 a year....do you think that you will spend that much at the vet? In my case, insurance is worth it because my dog is the most accident prone, mischievous little guy ever and I easily spend $4000-$6000+ on him, but a normal healthy corgi or kitty generally only costs about $250 or so in annual vet visits.
