"Winry arrived this weekend and I noticed that she was underweight and not eating enough. I was wondering how I can increase her appetite?"

She is 5.6 lbs at 8 weeks. From this weight estimate, she is 27 % below breed standards. http://www.puppyweights.com/Pembroke-Welsh-Corgi/219/

I've tried the newspapers but I'm not sure if it is working. She thinks I'm trying to play tug of war with her when cleaning her potty with newspaper. I'm going to have to spend more time with the newspaper. I've switch from pads to turf and she is not chewing on that because of bitter apple spray. However, her aim is still a bit off when I'm at work. She uses the pad perfectly in front of me but at work she uses potty near the turf but not on it. She also shy to use the potty completely in front of me. If I lift her she stops and doesn't start again for at least 10minutes. I'm not sure what to do.

Should this be under a new discussion board?

Also she hasn't gain any weight. I don't know if that is normal. I heard she should gain 1lb each week but it has been 2 weeks and she still the same weight. I've tried everything mentioned and she doesn't touch it unless it is wet food. Maybe she is picky :(

If you ever find a hanging scale, perhaps a fisherman's scale, I hang mine from a hook on the ceiling.  Items that can't be hooked go in a plastic shopping bag (the digital scale can tare this).

For anything that cannot be dropped -- like  a dog -- I use a long cord so that the bag is an inch off the floor.

But if an instrument has a range up t0 75-100 lbs., you might not expect it to be reliable near the bottom of its range.

Mine does not agree sp well with the vet's -- I think it was over a pound difference with our 20+ lb. dogs.

Is there a specific reason you need to use the pads? Many puppies find it very confusing and it slows down the training process. If at all possible, I would just take her outside to potty every time.

Have you tried soaking the food in a little warm water? You could also try maybe a tablespoon of yogurt or canned pumpkin mixed in to get her more interested.

I live in an apartment so I don't have my own yard to take her out to. The vet tells me to keep her away from all dogs and any places they may have gone potty until all her vaccination. I am hoping she will learn by next month but if that doesn't happen my girlfriend is going to take Winry to her mom's house which has a yard. She should learn by the end of summer break.
