Lately when we go out for walks, Chloe will sniff around, like normal but then she does this really weird thing. She'll find a spot that is particularly interesting to her, rub her face in the grass and then, before I know it, she's on her back rolling around in that spot. She'll do this until all of the scent is gone and then move on to another interesting smelling spot and then the ritual starts all over again. Does anyone else's corgi do this? What the heck is going on here?

Thanks everyone. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with a nutty dog. When she did this yesterday she also added sound effects. I call it the Tim the Toolman Taylor sound, how he does the "aghh agghh ah!" She's such a dork! After she's done, she looks around to see if anyone caught her doing her little shenanigan. She's lucky she's so cute, otherwise the other dogs might make fun of her ^_^
yup my corgi does it, the bichon that we used to have luved it too. dogs do weird things.
Tucker is always rolling around the yard and the dog park - not on walks -but still he loves to find something good and smelly. I try to discourage it if I see it is actually something really gross but if he's just rolling in the grass I don't mind. He looks like he is having the time of his life.
Isn't this the funniest thing? And the smellier and more disgusting, the better! I keep a box of babywipes in the car for the worst of it, as there have been days I can't drive home with the windows shut because of the .... odor. Eau de Corgi. Last winter, after we had more than a foot of pristine, white snow, I took the guys for a romp in the woods -- we were the first ones there, beautiful white snow as far as the eye could see. Bertie Wooster disappeared behind a stand of bushes for a few minutes, I heard the telltale swish swish sound of a doggie snow angel, and then he came trotting around with a look of pure bliss on his face, and his white chest was completely black. Black. And the smell! He was delighted. I made him go swimming in the ice-filled river to get some of it off, but we had to take some pretty massive baths when we got home. Both of us, because I then stunk too! Ah well, it takes all kinds, doesn't it?
Miranda has always done that. She does it on the grass, but her favorite spot is the beach. She finds seaweed and dead crabs. OH, DOES SHE ROLL! And she gets upset when we get home and it is bath time. I wish she would figure it out. But it is a normal behavior, for my dogs anyway.
