im not sure what is going on with teddy but i am at my wits end with all the trouble going on..ever since snoopy died and then started work teddy has changed a bit and not for the good. im not sure if he just bored or if hes not "fixed" yetbut this has to stop. (he is 7moths old)

for one hes always chasing the cats, i tell him no, i use water bottle and if it gets really bad i lock him in his crate for a short time so he calms down.

hes now always trying to be sneaky about eating out of the cat box, i corrected this when he was young but now thinks its ok, i catch him every time and correct him but still keeps doing it! i feed him enough food plus treats so i know hes not hungry.

when we play he bites! he has never done that before and i do correct  like i always have been and wont listen

and for some reason when he comes into contact with dogs he tries to get away, he has been socilized very well to other dogs and gets plenty of walks (two a day for 45 mins or we take him to the feild to tire him out for and hour) and we have always ran into other dogs and loved them, now he hates them

the big issue: teddy has never been a big chewer and knows what he is allowed to chew but out of the blue is chewing, clothes, toilet papper, rugs, shoes, our bed.

and the newest thing has been when ever our blanket falls on the floor he just lays there and pees! its so gross, i take him out when he "asks" or if i think he needs to wich is about every 4-5 hours

i would love any advice please.

I assume Snoopy was his doggy buddy? And you started working away from home? That sounds like a lonesome pup. He's lost his pals. There's no one to hang out with but the cats, and nothing to do all by himself :( Every time I have lost a dog, the remaining dog has gone through grieving behavior (except the idiot Springer Spaniel. They're nuts.) Maybe he could use a day of doggy day care?
i was thinking of putting him in a doggy day care so he isnt bored all the time. snoopy was his little buddy, they did everything together and always played, at that time he payed no attention to the cats or there box. we were thinking of getting him a buddy but since we are moving into an apartment having four animals would be chaotic lol
Cat Box: Does it have a lid? If not try that. The other thing is we put the box down stairs and a safety gate at the top of the stairs. It has a human gate and a pet gate that is to small for the corgis. Try that.
it does have a lid, its kinda like a dome and is pretty tall so when i got it i was hoping he would leave it alone lol i think the only way to stop that part is to get a baby gate, since i dont have a upstairs.
When I was looking for a new cat box I wanted one that the cats enter from the top. New cat boxes run around 25-30 dollars then for some reason my husband came up with the idea of a storage box the clear plastic bins that you put Christmas decorations in. They are about $7.00 and are nice and big. We put the box and the cat dish on top of a narrow folding table in the laundry room and there is room under the table to store the dog and cat food. Now Quin can't reach the cat box or the food and I have more room to store the food.
that could be something we could do, we had to put the cat food on top of the dryer so he could eat the food and im gonna try that if i cant find a good baby gate for the cat box:) thank u (and i know what u mean about the prices of cat boxes, its ridiculous!)
Just wanted to add one thing here - Killian was exactly like that. He went from totally understanding the boudries to testing every limit he could possibly think of. The bad news? It's going to drive you insane. The good news? As long as you keep consistent, (and it sounds like you're doing a great job with that one!!) one day you'll both wake up and he'll seem to have snapped out of it.
thank u :) i have been keeping him in check but he still likes to press my buttons lol i hope he will snap out of it, after a week of this im like "omg what happened the sweetest puppy in the world? did a little troll take over your body?!" lol my husband said it first but i liked it ;) lol
Hi Rebecca,
Dogs grieve the loss of members of the household, and that mixed with the change around work, Teddy may be a little stressed and unsure of what's happening. I agree with some the other comments, gentle and firm consistent training and reminding, mixed with lots of love and fun will help him through this so that you can all enjoy each other again.
Have you considered working with an animal behaviorist? I've worked with a few different ones during the years with both cats and dogs. Generally I've found them through referrals by a vet or vet college.

As for the peeing thing, I generally figure at least every 1 1/2 to 2 hours is the time frame for making sure Bunny gets outside to go potty.
Good Luck to all of you,
Cathi
thank u for the advice:) i was pretty sure he was still grieving because he just always seems depressed and when snoopy was alive he always had something to do when we were busy. i havnt consider that but its worth a shot:) and like u said i should probably let him out more often, its just if we do go out hes usually got his toys and things to do and holds it up to 6hours and i take him out immediately. thanks again:)
As for the cat box munching (yep its pretty gross), we have covered boxes and Bunny still finds an opportunity to grab a snack now and then. I'm actually building a 1" X1" wood frame with chicken wire covering to enclose our kitty boxes, making a tunnel type of entrance for the cats that will keep Bunny out.
Our cats like (as in won't use the covered boxes) the open feeling, and I don't like the snacking from the kitty box.

Bunny also like to help clean up around the guinea pig cages, so we're modifying those too to help eliminate the temptation. Its not a hunger thing, its an opportunity thing with the dogs.
Bunny also likes guniea pig alfalfa and timothy grass pellets, its amazing how she gets her tongue through the cage sides to grab a few now and then. At least its not poop!
lol my mom has guinea pigs and did the same thing lol i always had to make sure the cages were clean before bringing him over. our cats dont mind it either way as long as they can go in peace and its clean:) i know its tempting for him but i just dont like the mess he makes and when he tries to lick me after wards, yuck!
