Perhaps a more appropriate way to ask this question would be, "What causes dogs to shed?" I know dogs shed to renew their coat and get rid of damaged or old hair, but what triggers this?--especially in dogs that shed seasonally, like corgis. Plants start shedding leaves as a result of the change in duration of light, not as a result of temperature. Do dogs shed because of this too? Or does the temperature cause it? Or, does something else entirely? Or, do we not know? I've searched Google and didn't come up with anything. But, I know a bunch of users here have access to scientific journals and papers and other resources. Help me out? I'm just curious. :3
