We're going away for a few nights and are boarding Gracie for the first time. We usually take our dogs with us but we couldn't this time and, wasn't sure if she could be trusted this time. We are going to board her at her vets. I feel really sad about this because she is suddenly getting so well behaved and very sweet. We're making great strides. I'm sure she will be well taken care of. They threaten to NOT spoil her there! :) They charge extra for walking, play and cuddling time. I do feel she needs all of this since she is a youngster and would hate being in a cage. My husband thinks I am crazy! I'm going to miss her so much. But, it will be nice for my husband and I to get away on our own. Actually, I won't know what to do with myself. Hopefully the next time, she will be coming with us. Have you all boarded you puppies yet?

I have not. I usually am the friend who does the dog sitting, actually. But I know it can cost a lot and I fear my dogs will be lonely and think I abandoned them. Miranda wines when I use the bathroom. ... she is very needy.

Part of me wonders if Morgan would think he is back at the pound? And I am sure your husband would think me looney too.

You are not crazy, you are just thoughtful. See how they do. If it is not for them perhaps you can hire a dog sitter for them next time?
I have boarded Tank several times - usually over weekends when my husband and I are out of town. I've tried several different places and my favorite so far is actually Petsmart. Their PetsHotel is staffed 24/7 and there are windows into the play area (very public where you can see how clean the facilities are). You can also have your pup be in a group play which is great for socialization...and it wears them out!! I think there's an age requirement, but can't remember what it is - maybe six months? The next best for us was our vet's (especially when he was really little). I felt like there's no better place to be than at a place where he could be cared for by people that do that as a profession anyway.

Best of luck boarding - we didn't see too many negative behaviors.
my doggy day care that jordan(my 2 yr. old) goes to on mondays also boards. for 25.00 a day they play with the day campers who arrive starting at 7am and leave by 6pm and then get walked at 8pm before bed time =) I perfer this than being in a pen allday. I might also add jordan never wants to come home on mondays when he's just a day camper lol I have to carry him back out to the car Teagen won't be able to go till after her spay
I haven't. Sammy is only 6 weeks old and we are going away on the 30th of August for a week and because he is so young he cant go to a kennel so we are taking him back to the breeders :( we are very sad because he will be confused, we got him only 3 days ago so he will only have 11 days with him :(
