Here is a link to some interesting facts I found on sweet dog odors: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf957461.tip.html

from another site:
Bad Breath
While bad breath caused by dental disease may not be too serious if caught early enough, some odors may be indicative of fairly serious, chronic problems. Liver or intestinal diseases may cause foul breath, whereas a sweet, fruity smell may be indicative of diabetes. If your dog's breath smells like ammonia or urine, kidney disease is a possibility. Any time you notice your pet has bad breath accompanied by other signs of ill health, such as loss of appetite, vomiting, weight loss, depression, excessive drinking or urinating, schedule a visit to the veterinarian.

There is the possibility that the sweet smell could be nothing, but I've always learned to ere on the side of caution

If I remember correctly... Some sweet odors can be a medical problem. Can't remember where I heard it, I'll see if I can find anything for you

OK, as a first time Corgi owner, I have a question. This may sound weird, but I have to ask. Sometimes, Toby smells like a dog. Not in a bad way, just a dog. Sometimes though, he gives off a very sweet odor, unlike anything I've ever smelled on a dog. Am I crazy, or is this something that anyone has ever experienced in a Corgi, or any other breed?

Oh the infamous out in public CORGI call. :) Got to love that. Rea's ears were up naturally as soon as I got her at 8 weeks. The only time they flopped down a little was when she was teething. But that was only the very tip of the ear. I can't wait to get into the grown dog stage though. She's 8 months old and going through the sniff and ignore move when we're outside. Yet she listens great when we're doing tricks? Haha, she's so lucky I love her so much!

Thanks for the compliment, Kari! I'm finally used to the blue eye and "yin/yang" face. Get lots of comments like, "Is he blind in that eye?" and "phantom of the opera"... not to mention what we all hear, "CORGI!" =D

Tag's ears were floppy for a long time too. 1 up, then it flipped back, then the other up, then both flipped back...weird. I tried taping, but it made him (and me) crazy. I resorted to massage. Rubbed those ears every time he was near me. They, obviously, popped up quite nicely :) I heard that helps build/strengthen the cartilage,
