I did it because it seemed fun to have a pretentious name attached to my dog, honestly. ;) The AKC is always trying to coax me into purchasing pet insurance, or ID tags, or dog magazines or what have you... they also send out dog health/etc newsletters and invite you to AKC training and show events. For non-breeders though, I'm not sure there's any real "point" to it.

What is the benefit of registering your dog as with the AKC?
I know it sounds silly, but i thought it was free at first haha. I just found out it cost some money and I was wondering if it is worth it if i'm not planning to breed her?

I registered my puppy as "Stablemates' Archaeology." Stablemates is his kennel... Archaeology is because his name is Indiana and my last name is Jones. So of course he is Indiana Jones, an archaeologist... ;)

Ya I figured I'd change it eventually, it's only missing an H. So I don't care too much right now. Her registered name is Black Jacks Cowgirl Reagan. So at least it's not too off. I came up with the name the night before I got her paperwork.

Kris & Reaghan maybe they will fix it, maybe you could check on line about that. We were so excited when we got Sami's I just knew that something would be spelled wrong. What is the offical registered name? Sami's is "Wendtworths Sassy Samantha Southwestern Senorita" boy what a mouth full, it's why we call her Sami! Congrats on the papers.

Those little mixed pups are cute, but personally, I like my corgis straight! :)

The day we brought Kenji home we started using the NILIF method. He learned sit on day 1 and we used that to our advantage for EVERYTHING. He does not bark unless excited when we're playing.

Biting is a tough one. Exercise will probably help. We're starting to play with him in the backyard instead of just inside and the biting is getting better.

Hi all- Blitz was born May 6, 2009. Cute as heck but a handfull. Any helpful tips about training, puppy biting and barking are most welcome. We're in preschool now and he's doing well but I would love some tips others have found useful.

Here are a couple of corgi/chihuahua mixes... looks like they could be pretty darn cute!

And this is Parker the dog I have the adoption application in for. Look at that face!
