So how do you get the software?

I used to use a binder but this software is so nice! You have a database of judges, a database of runs, a database of agility clubs, trial sites, a calendar and a training log. It calculates your stats for your dog too. It calculates your YPS, and Q percentage (if you enter all your runs that is). And it'll keep track by venue. AAC, AKC, ASCA, CKC, CPE, DOCNA, FCI, NADAC, SCC, SSA, TDAA, UKC and USDAA. I love the calendar. I can keep track of what trials I'm considering, whether I've entered or not, whether I've made accommodations or not, etc. It'll summarize your title progression by venue and you can look at your data sorted all sorts of different ways. It's nice software. Can't beat it for the price.

i have a binder that I keep all my stuff in. I right down how the run went, my time, placements, etc. Usually I write on the back of a course map and transfer it to the binder at home. I also use my blog as my record book too- it is easy to look back and see how the last trial went and where we've improved.

I love putting my results into my record book. Now I just need to get a laptop I can take to the trials. It's fun to see where you stand right there when the run is fresh in your mind. You can add notes about what you did that worked, what you did that didn't work, what you should have done, etc. You guys do know about Agility Record Book software right? It's free software. They just ask for a donation to a rescue group or shelter. How can you not do that?

Agility is SO fun! And sometimes the issues you have are totally unexpected, like this timing thing. Dudley was doing well so my instructor told me to change the game from "run with me" to "catch me" and then Dudley would speed up and we'd get better times. I needed to give Dudley permission to run and do obstacles without me having to babysit him. If I give him 'permission' to do that, then he'll run as fast as he can to do the obstacle and then go catch Mom. OMG! There's a two edged sword! Now Dudley's really liking this new game, but Mom is going "whoa!" I'm having to step up my handling to catch up with Dudley's speed. He's running faster so I have to cue faster and think faster. This is real work for my addled brain! At my last trial I was so off with my timing I looked like I'd never handled a dog before. But by the third day I'd finally got my act together and we had some sweet runs. The entire trial was fun, but the end was even more fun 'cause it was all starting to come together. Of course I've lost it again, but I'll get it back with more practice.

My advice is "be patient". Is Livvy your first agility dog? Dudley is my second and he was totally different than Taffy. He's teaching me a lot. But I do call him my "remedial student". We had to take the beginner class 3 times! But when he "gets it", he GETS IT! I just had to be patient and not give up (although there were times with I wanted to).

With Dudley, when the bulb finally does turn on, it shines bright! He's great at agility but now I'm the problem!!! Now that he's figured out the whole agility game, he's pulling out all the stops and his speed has caught me by surprise! My timing is totally off. I'm constantly behind on my cues, in my position on the course, etc. But I'll get it. You just have to be patient on a bunch of different levels. Not only be patient with your dog, but be patient with yourself.

Livvy starts intro to agility on Mon...I'm hoping for a good night! I know she starts out slow in any class but really blossoms after a few classes so my hope is she will adapt well to this too! She is very capable! If anyone has suggestions please let me know!

Thanks!
