Cherie is wonderful as well-located around Monterey area, worth the drive. She also uses Smithshire Glen corgis as studs. She's great!!

No way. Do not pay Kim $2000 for a puppy that may end up with hip dysplasia like ours and severe allergies like ours plus several of our half-sibs. It sounds like she's trying to ride the wave of popularity and make extra cash. You can get well-bred corgis for a more reasonable price elsewhere.

We first contacted Kim 3 years ago or so, and by the time we were ready to purchase one year later, she raised the price on us by a few hundred, citing the same thing: 'vets are more expensive, blah blah blah.' But now using the same excuse to jack it up to $2k? Unacceptable. Her vet bills cannot possibly have gone up 100% in 2 years.

Debra Smith of Smithshire-Glen corgis is an excellent breeder. I have two corgis from her and they both were $1200-pet quality and DM tested (all ok). Her show quality and DM clear may be more. http://www.gotcorgis.com/#!about-us

I would suggest a puppy from her male-Eden. He is adorable, produces great puppies, and wonderful lines and health. She also has him as a stud, so she may be able to tell you if any other breeders have his puppies. But they are worth the wait. Kim is great from Poso as well, it seems like $2000 is high, but then i don't know current costs.

Good luck!

Varies based on region, market condition, pedigree quality, DM clear.  You should be financially capable of paying 1000 plus for an AKC pure breed Corgi that's DM cleared.  I think 2 grand unless it's a show dog, you're getting ripped.  If you're bargain shopping for pedigree Corgi you probably should just go to a shelter and save a dog's life.  Price shouldn't be an issue or bargaining point for purchasing a dog.

So Poso replied that their pricing has gone up.  Vet costs, food costs, health testing, and time... so she did raise her prices.  That said, what are costs for other breeders for quality Corgis?  Interesting to contemplate that our pack is worth double the purchase price - even though they are truly priceless to us!

I just reached out to Kim at Poso Creek to check pricing. Will share her response. We have gotten three Corgs in six years and never paid more than $940 each. In fact she gave us a discount on one who has a blue eye. AND on our third one she even gave us a return option if the little guy did not fit into the pack. She is a wonderful breeder.

Be careful.  2gs is too much.  If they don't call you back don't buy from them.  Really talk to the breeder and visit their farm.  If they're too busy.  Then so are you and move on.  There's a lot of unethical breeders or breeders who are very much into turnover and profit.  They should NOT be selling puppies but it's life.  Just don't get frustrated or pushed around by arrogant or indifferent breeders.  I think a fair range for a Corgi AKC with testing is 1000-1200.  Just take your time.  It's the life a dog you are committing to.  Not the latest car model on a lease.

I recommend Cheryl Luce. Here is her website.

Love our two dogs we got from her. Whoever you decide on make sure they do health testing. :)

We paid 900. 3 times. 2000 is hard to believe.
