West LA Corgi Crew & Meetup

A group for Corgis and their people from all around the LA area... and who would like to meetup on the westside!

Location: Los Angeles
Members: 59
Latest Activity: Sep 29, 2014

Let's get the LA corgis together on the westside!

*every Saturday & Sunday regular meetups 8am-9am @ Redondo Beach Dog Park

(usually very well attended, every weekend even with rain and on holidays)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Notes:

1. Please freely set up your own meetup times! Common meetup locations include (all on the small dog side); Playa Vista's Obbereider Dog Park, Barrington Dogpark in Brentwood, Redondo Beach Dogpark.

2. Urge you all to join in with the current weekly meet up at the Redondo Beach Dog Park on Saturday & Sunday mornings from 8am-9am every week. It's on the small dog side but a large, grassy area. Ollie and I go every weekend and there's a great group of about 10-15 corgis (one day we hit 30+) and their people who consistently attend. A big plus is that everyone there is super friendly and helpful, and because it is early it is nice and cool for our furcoated-friends and leaves your day open for human playtime!

3. We will not be organizing meetups in Santa Monica as anyone who does not live in Santa Monica would be unable to meet there; you must be licensed in SM in addition to LA County in order to use the SM facilities, and this limits the corgis & people who could attend. Not worth risking it as it's a several hundred dollar fine and they actually have people at the park checking regularly.

4. This is a new group so please join and invite others! :)

As per my understanding..

1. Santa Monica parks only allow pets registered in the city of Santa Monica and they actually have animal control staff who patrol and check at parks and give out large tickets/fines

2. LA Co allows all LA Country registered pets, including Santa Monica, as long as they are current on shots

3. Pets are supposed to be registered in LA Co within 6 months of moving here, but no one patrols.. this is more if you're worried about your dog being aggressive towards others and you are held liable

4. Everyone come!

**I'd also suggest registering in LA county in case your pet is ever lost, to support local dog park services and maintenance, and to support local shelters/public assistance for animals... it's only $15/yr if your dog is fixed.

Lacey is not licensed from LA area, but that should not be a problem, right? She is still licensed in Santa Cruz, as we recently moved here.

We'd love to come to the Playa Vista meetup in a few hours, but I'm confused-- since we're not licensed in Santa Monica, does that mean we can't go?

We might be able to come by!

We've had something come up.  We will still try to make it, but if we don't, please know that we are thinking about all the Corgis anyway!

Mochi is not fully vaccinated yet, but we (the humans) might swing by and check out the park and meet some of you. Its really close to my work office.

We will be there with Maya.  We will also be bringing a couple of friends and their corgi Tabi.  So, it looks like we will have 7-8 corgi's coming!  :)

Depending on how long my company visits at my house, I hope to be at the park by 3:00. Lacey and I will try our hardest to be there.

Sounds good to me.  See you there!

Why don't we say 2:30-4pm on Saturday since it seems that that would be most convenient for everyone?
