About Me:
My fiance and I live in Detroit, and are totally owned by our Fluffy Corgi and sweet German Shepherd! I love city life. Nobody thinks Detroit is safe, but there are pockets of it that are fabulous and beautiful.

I work as a graphic designer for a printing company, as well as freelance design and photography. And I LOVE CORGIS!

About My Corgi(s):
Griff is a sable Fluffy, and after years of claiming him as Pembroke, I've decided he's actually a CARDIGAN!

My Little Man came into my life when he was 10 months old as the best surprise Christmas gift ever. I had always wanted a Corgi, and when I was greeted that morning by the happiest, fluffiest, smiliest dog ever, I was totally in love. My better half adopted Griff from the Humane Society where I think fate was keeping him for us to find...

Griff is tenacious, talkative, neurotic, super smart, energetic to a fault, treat motivated, and CUTE! He's also like a 3 year-old boy trapped in a dog's body, so he keeps me on my toes! He loves running, barking, his human friends, eating, walks, sleeping on pillows, chasing squirrels, destuffing toys, swimming, herding his sister, and cuddling on Mommy! I think he would love to live on a farm for the rest of his life - but what dog wouldn't? :)
I have:
Cardigan

Thank you.... She is quite special. She amazes me daily. This evening I was walking her and I slipped on the ice and went down. She was right there just that fast. She checked me over and did everything she could to help me up. She was whinning all the time until I got up. You could tell she was truly upset over me falling. I was OK but she had to make sure! What a girl. I love this breed! All of them!!!
Griff is quite cute! I had never seen a "Fluffy" until I joined this website. Aren't they fun?
  • Kristen

This winter is lasting for-ev-errr......IttyDars couldn't go out yesterday in the sleet and snow, it made her eyes go blinky, blinky. How's Griff doing with all the snow??
  • Maggie and Me

    He's a beauty!
    looks like a little fox...
  • Mary Phoenix

Thanks for the comment! Griff is beautiful. I love his face. It reminds me of Gardener. Very fox like :-)
  • Geri & Sidney

Hi, and thank you so much for your comment! Sidney will be glad to know he's not the only tailed Pembroke out there. I just love his gorgeous tail. Griff is beautiful! He looks even more like a fox than SId with his fluffy, fluffy coat, especially in those pics where he's out in the woods!
  • Twinky

Hi! Griff is just so cute! I love his fluff, and the pic of him in his coat- SO cute! Twink has a vest and her little corgi but sticks out.
  • Vickie

I love your photo page.Griff is so handsome. I think Gracie has tail envy
  • Melissa

Giff looks a little like a sheltie since he's so fluffly and has that black tint around his mane and ears. What a cutie though!
  • Megan and Penelope

    Thanks, me too!
  • Heather

  • WhiteDove

Hello JW. . .your fur baby is absolutely adorable. . . .
  • Linda and Kaijuu Le

you really got some great photography skills! i absolutely adore the picture of griffy and the shoes~
  • John Wolff

Sure is nice to see a Pem with a tail (ours have only tales).

Show us some more photos flaunting the tail. Help start a movement.

There's a rescued corgi in our neighborhood, found on the street, allegedly a Pem, looks like a Pem, but has a Cardi-like tail. Gorgeous.
  • Geri & Sidney

Hi JW! Your Griff is gorgoeous! My Sidney is also undocked, and we get asked about him every day. You are so right, most people never realized that their corgi was docked. I didn't know until I met Sidney. One woman (Corgi owner) this weekend looked appalled and said "I'd better not tell my daughter...". It is suprising that so many people don't know, but at least I'm not alone in my ignorance. Well, previous ignorance. And JW, everyone who did not know it is a US standard says something to the effect of "why do they do it? They have beautiful tails". When I tell them several countries have now banned the practice, they make some sort of statement hoping the change will happen here too. The "bunny butt" is cute and all, but like you said, I can see no reason for it 9except for the maintaining of the outdated "standard") unless it is a working dog. But Cardies are herders, aren't they...and they have tails. Maybe I'm wrong and they are not herders, but I thought they were.
Be prepared for some very limited but vocal oppostion to your stance...but you are not alone. Thanks for speaking up!
  • mikonami

    This may sound like a silly question, but are fluffies bred to be fluffies? Or is it random which puppy is a fluffy or regular short haired? I've never seen one before, so I'm quite intrigued. Also, does Griff shed? ^^;;
  • wendulik

Thanks for your comment on my page. I must say that your fluffy boy is beautiful! Actually, my Risa has a fluffy brother in the litter. Your photos are totally adorable, I like the one with Griff sleeping with your smart shoes :)
  • sandra

hehe, you like that cheezburger site too, huh, or was it you who told me bout it??? no matter, i love that site....gee, wonder what they would say bout my cute corgi or odd corgi pics via captions????

hey, how come it is always daddys girl and mammas boy??? i need a boy corgi kid--- i mean it!

    smiles : )

  • Mim

Hi, Griff is just GORGEOUS! Absolutely stunning. I have never seen such a good looking fluffie (but don't let Ziva know I said that).

Your photos are really good, what type of camera do you use?
  • Maggie May

Hello! Your Griff looks adorable and a lot like mine! Maggie's only three months though, but it's wonderful to see how she'll look when she's Griff's age. What a cutie! Sue and Maggie
  • ATLAsh

Awww your boy is so cute:) Looks like a little fox hehe
  • ATLAsh

Aww well thank you :) I'm from the west side of the state-- grew up in SouthWest Michigan & lived in Grand Rapids for a couple years. I miss the north quite a bit, but not the winters :)
  • Tammey & Caven

Thank you for the sweet comments. Bear is a great little helper. Your medium me picture made me spit my milk all over my keyboard. It was just too funny.
  • Sienna

Sienna is actually from a breeder in Lapeer, this was her first litter of Corgis... normally she breeds Newfies, I guess... :) Big size difference there! But yes, Sienna is a cutie pie and she's good with kids, other dogs, and cats (since all were in her previous home)
  • Laura K.

Griff is an incredibly handsome dog! He looks like a fox with that beautiful tail! I haven't seen too many fluffies, they are SO cute! My girl Chloe has a very flat coat in comparison to your Griff, it's fun to see the diversity of the breed. Thanks for posting all of those wonderful pictures!
  • Lady Bug (Michelle)

I enjoyed your photos immensely!! Someone has a great eye for photography! I guess it doesn't hurt that Griff is such a good-looking subject.
  • Simi Corgi Girl

I am now convinced my next Corgi will be fluffy! What cute pictures!!!
  • Sienna

Where exactly is Canine to Five?
  • Simi Corgi Girl

    Hi JW,

So funny that people think Griff is a girl, people think the same about my Nathan. As a matter of fact, they look so much alike in the face...they both have what we call "the Cleopatra Stripe" coming off the corner of their eyes. It looks like eye liner!

Your photos of Griff are amazing! If you're not a pro-photographer you should consider it. You have quite the eye for a good shot. I always miss the good ones. :-(

We're totally ok with this round of fires, sadly so many were not. It was only a few weeks ago the fires were burning between here and Chatsworth. I'll speak for all Californians...we're-so-done with the fires. As soon as the Santa Anas kick up we know the wind will carry an ember, either natural or by the hands of man.

Were you raised in Detroit or did you move there after college? Either way, I bet you miss a California winter!!! It was 80 degrees today (but we really need a lot of rain.)

By the way, read the comment on your page that perhaps Griff is not all Corgi. He is!!! He just a "fluffy" with a beautiful tail! :)
  • Simi Corgi Girl

Ah ha! I knew it. It's so easy to tell a trained pro from an amatuer photographer. My company makes jewelry you put pictures into, so I see a lot of great photos. So glad I finally get to see some pro photos of a Corgi (even though I'm sure you have other masterpieces as well!)

You are welcome back to Ventura County anytime!
  • Boomer & Elisa & Chris

OMG, Griff is so cute! He looks a bit like my sheltie i had years ago! Nice mix.
  • John Wolff

That's a great-looking dog. I love to see Pembrokes with tails.
  • Gail's Lil' Gizmo

that is a beautiful picture that you put on corgi photographers. Wow.. did you take that!! you are very very talented and that is a gorgeous dog.. love it!!
  • Nicole

the fluff with the tail is so flippin cute!
  • Tauna and Kota

love your pics! you are a great photographer! what kind of camera(s) do you use? I love taking pictures and love the clarity you get in your photographs. Did you go to school to become a photographer?
  • Tauna and Kota

What school did you go to and how long was it? Do you use a lot of different lenses when you shoot? I want to become a professional some day. All the tips you can give would be great. I love your flikr site. I love all the comments and titles you put on your photograps. I think they make the photograph even more interesting. I am thinking Marchish maybe April for when I will maybe be able to go get Kota.
  • Parker

You take the most amazing photos!! I came to check out Griff's corgi-ness and couldn't stop looking at all the awesome pictures on here!
Griff and his brother are wonderful! Looks like a lot of fun at your house!
  • Lauren + Winston

AHH what kind of camera do you have. those pictures are incredible.
  • Lauren + Winston

LOL winstons the biggest mamas boy you'd ever meet. he's my little baby. i love him to death. people always tell me i spoil my dog too much but i don't think you can ever spoil a corgi too much!
  • Summer, Mindy, and Milo

Thank you so much! When I adopted her she had her tail, and I don't really believe in tail docking so I was fine with that. I love Griff's tail too, he's so unique and truly adorable. :)
  • Shepdog

Oh, what gorgeous dogs! Shepherds and Corgis make the best combo, don't they? Love the photos, too.
  • Lauren + Winston

holy carp thats a nice camera. i just googled it hahaha. i showed it to my boyfriend and said "omg look at this camera.. its soo nice..........." and then showed him the pics you take.......... maybe he'll love me enough to buy me that camera LOL
  • Dragster and Bailee

Hello! i saw pics of your babies on your group. I was wondering if they are full-blood corgi? and what is the all white one?
  • Juneaux and Maximus

Amazing pics! and your dogs are beauties:)
  • Jenna

I just saw the picture of your dog sleeping with his tongue out! Haha my Sparky does it all the time! He is so cute cause unless you tug on it gently he doesn't even realize that he has it out. haha too cute!
  • Riley & Sadie

Griff is a good looking guy. I can't blame him for not wanting to stay out on Jan 16th. I remember that morning. It was -14 here and my Corgis would NOT come in. I had to go out and get them.
  • Riley & Sadie

Yeah, by comparison, these guy are midgets. The mother of their litter was tiny though. I've never seen such a small Corgi. At one point Bear tipped the scales at 55#, and his sister almost 50. In the end I think that contributed to his health issues. He became diabetic in his last year and we had to give him insulin shots twice a day. No people food for these guys. Since they never get it, they don't really know what they're missing. Hopefully that will help keep them healthy and happy for 15 years or so.
  • Akshay Anikhindi

    Why thank you :)
I absolutely love Griff's tail! I swear I've watched "Griff's Big Obsession" 3 times already just watching his fluffy tail wag everywhere. How do you keep him so well groomed? His fur looks absolutely gorgeous... I want to grow Ender's that long but it's tough to take care of :-\
