I live in a small town in central Washingtong state. I have 2 grown boys, 3 cats, 40 Koi, 1 lovebird and now I have 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgis! I am a stay at home Mom so I get to spend most of my time with my critters.I had never had the pleasure of meeting a Corgi until last summer while camping, the people camping near us had a Corgi. It was love at first sight. Id never had a dog tug at my heart like that one did and I set out finding myself one. It took me nearly 4 months to find LaVerne but she was worth the wait. I believe that Corgis are like potato chips. You cant have just one, so I got Shirley on May 19th 2009! She is the perfect addition to our family!
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
I just got my bouncing baby Corgi girl on Oct. 26 08. She is 8 weeks old and I am already hopelessly in love with her. Im exhausted and so happy and she seems to be quite happy too!
Her name is LaVerne and she is tri-colored. I dont like to brag but....I do believe she is the most beautiful dog Ive ever seen! :-)
On May 19th 2009, Shirley turned 8 weeks old and she came home to live with us. She and LaVerne instantly became best pals. They are so much fun to watch!
Most all of the heartbarx pups are tri tips as is Samuel. Samuel is actually a very beautiful white blaze tri tip with write front paws and a lot of good red flecking, so he should actually be pretty red along the shoulders and sides as an adult. Or at least that is how Mac is so far turning out as well :) You can also call them and ask. Like I said they are very beautiful and well tempered pups and the "owners/breeders" are very friendly as well. I wish I could do a "study" with them on Corgi Breeding as I want to breed Corgi's when I finally have my own land and house.
Thanks - yes, I'm watching a lot of videos. VERY excited :)
Technically the puppy is a gift for my wife, I'll let her name it - I know she wants to name it Ollie if we end up getting a boy. Being as we'll probably get a girl though, I told her to start brainstorming! The litter is black and white now, but the parents are tri colored.
Thank you! We're very happy to have him. We wanted a blue merle with one blue eye but we knew the odds of getting that were slim. Needless to say were were thrilled when we got our perfect little boy. :) Your tri is adorable. If we get a 2nd corgi eventually we want a tri Pembroke.
hey there, did you ever get a hold of Heartbarx? I know I'm looking at Tristin, he's caught my eye though I don't know how feasable it would be for me to get him at this time.... XD
Thank you so much.... I am in love with Laverne! She is so precious! I love the last picture of her on your slideshow. Its so adorable. I wish Alex was more photogenic. She doesn't like the noises my camera makes.... :( lol
Laverne had such great coloring! She is a doll! I just know her and Nutmeg would be hillarious together. Nut is my first Corgi too, and I was in a Corgi Trance from the first moment.
ahh I m sad she would make a wonderful mommy! She is so pretty. Did you ever think of showing her? How do you upload the videos? Can you take it from a camera? I have never uploaded videos before. Did you see the video with the corgi eating a jar of peanut butter? When you go to the vet ask if they can eat peanut butter for me, I am curious!
How did the vet go? Is she home already? Is she sore? Poor baby but it is the best for them in the end:)
Keep in touch thanks for the advice on the flip video. I have one on my camera. I wonder if that would work. In some of your picture especially the one on the couch, Lavern could be my dog! Looks exactly the same! SO CUTE!
take care,
Kristi
Tracey and Lavern,
Hey! How was Lavern after the surgery? Did all go okay? Is she already back to normal? Grace is doing great. Looking into dog shows but it looks like I may have to wait until June as she has to be 6 month old. Be interesting to see how she does:)
We all think our dogs are the best looking, so hopefully I am not being to prejudice:) Guess time will tell. You inspired me to put some videos up of grace too:)
You know I am pretty new to the show thing. They cannot be fixed tho. I am going to a dog show just to see and I am going to talk to a lady who shows her dogs a lot. They have to be at least 6 months old and akc registered. It looks like those are the requirements. You can still show in agility tho even if your dog is fixed. That looks like a lot of fun. I would think corgis would do very well in that. If grace does not do well in conformation then I may look into agility although she is not as fast as some of those other dogs I have seen. I will keep you informed as time goes by. I am glad your Lavern is back to normal. She is absolutely gorgeous. Wish I could meet her in the real:)) Take care,
Kristi
of course! i'd love a little red headed gal myself. Though i don't think my budget will allow it for a few more years. Thats ok though. I have my SirMacKellen in the mean time. :P
Thanks so much for the compliments. Kiwi certainly has my heart :). Not a problem for the advice, I always like to try to help people if I understand what they're going through. I'm just so happy that Laverne's surgery turned out well and she's back to her old puppy self. She is absolutely adorable. My husband and I would love to have a tri one day! Anyway, have a great one!
Laverne is hilarious! i have 2 mixes but it is so funny to relate to the funny antics that the pure breads have! tounge sticking out, falling asleep upside down......
yes we got mato in eastern washington, forgot exactly where though. We had to drive 6 hours to get there but it was mighty worth it!! By the way i love the tricks you taught laverne, i can't get mato to roll over she too smart for that!!
oh, i just remembered more about where i got mato. Ok it's called the LL Stables in Selah WA, she runs a boarding stable i think and breeds pembroke corgis there.
She's beautiful. I've been thinking about putting spartan's ears up with tape but, I don't know if it really matters. Did you have to put tape on Laverne's? It took me awhile to find Spartan and it's kinda crazy to me that in my whole life I've never wanted anything so bad until I saw a Corgi and started reading more about the breed. I will take some more pictures this weekend and post em up.
I know exactly what you mean. I feel better now knowing someone else who is corgi obsessed lol. I had a hard time finding a Corgi here in Wa. I had got on a waitting list from a breeder that lived in Louisiana for a year and his puppies were just born in January. I was gonna get first pick of the pet puppys. I was trying to find one here and then there was spartan. He was like 30 minutes from where I lived. I think God answered my prayers. I too was thinking Corgi every morning and every night. Looking at all kinds of info on the breed and Pictures. I still can't believe I finally have one. I'm hoping to teach Spartan Agility when he gets older. Right now i got him potty trained and the sit command but, the down command has been kinda difficult to teach.
Squiggy, I mean LaVerne is beautiful...if my heart wasn't promised to another little Corgi...!! Annie stretches out like LaVerne, too -- Supergirl! I love the pic of her with Snoopy and the pumpkin -- priceless!
Thank you! I love your puppy rug picture. Ah, how I miss those fun-filled, unhousebroken, sharp puppy teeth, floppy eared, bad breath but always want to breathe in your face puppy days.
Hi, Your little girl is adorable, she really reminds me of Bella when she was a little pup! They are the sweetest dogs!! I actually got bella in Wenatchee, my boyfriend and I lived there for 2 years before we moved back to Olympia, small world ;)
Hello Lavern and Shirley is too cute, what a great idea! I see you spell your name Tracey that is how I spell mine too I find most people forget the "E" when spelling my name, how about you? You have a very pretty little girl there I am sure she would love a sister named Shirley to play with!
Sorry Iwasn't around to meet you when you stopped by - work just gets in the way. ;-). How funny that our dogs are related. We did get our dog in Ellensburg, but not from the same person. We got Nia from a woman that moved over to Eburg from the Tacoma area. When I saw her I fell in love with her - really didn't need another dog , but glad we have her.
We won't know until next weekend if Lorena is available for you or not. We will let you know as soon as the people in front of you make their decision. Have you thought about getting a male? Some times two females can squabble at times. When we leave we need to keep the girls separate. We have returned to find evidence of fighting before so they are not together if we are not at home. We had a third female for a period of time and it was even harder. Some of that is because they are not spayed - but some people believe that two girls or even two boys together can be a problem. Any way - just throwing that out there. You know best what you are looking for. I'm sending this from my blackberry - so sorry for any typos. I'm just starting to get the hang of this little phone.
We will be in touch.
Laverne is gorgeous, even for a tricolored Pem. I like the wide blaze up the middle of the face. Glad you took lots of pics, 'cause they change in the first year, some of that black gets replaced with brown.
I read Garth Stein's book too; he's from Seattle. I like the idea of manifesting your dreams.
Gwynnie's glad you enjoyed her photos. The corgicicle is not just for photos ops; late summer can be hot on the dry open ridges above timberline, and dogs can't sweat and can get heat stroke. She's a cool corgi:
Yeah, try that hike up Earl Peak, then you can traverse off eastwards to a little pass, make a loop route esp. if you stash a bike at the road. We've done all the hikes south of US2, including Big Jim Mtn. Go to wta.org and search Trip Reports for "Cascade Liberation Organization", that's us. I really like the Chiwaukum country, White Pine Creek, Wildhorse Creek, Frosty Pass, Ladies Pass; corgi-friendly terrain but look out for snakes (Debbie Landry told me somebody almost lost one of her pups to a snakebite, camping, early summer, rattlesnake, pup got sick but pulled through, OH!). The country up Chiwawa River Rd. is another world; we've done the loop over Little Giant Pass, up the Napeequa to High Pass, out Buck Creek twice -- preferred habitat of the rare Pacific Alpine Corgi (a.k.a. Pembroke Welsh Marmot).
You know it's funny, I thought we were already friends, because I remember you and I talking about how Bindi and LaVerne were born just a couple of days apart, but I guess we never were! :)
So, here's a quick question for you - how much does your little girl weigh now? I think Bindi is on the small side, so I thought I'd compare with another baby her age.
Bindi has been at 16 and holding now for a couple of months... and compared to the other corgi's at the dog park, she looks like a mini! I suppose she still have some time to grow, so I won't worry too much. :)
Aw, Laverne has similar coloring to Spunky! She's so pretty, makes me even more excited to watch Spunks grow up. The last time I was this giddy and excited and impatient was when I was 8 years old and counting down the days til Christmas!
Well hello neighbor! Ashton (He's a Nov '08 pup) and I just live a little down the road from you in Moses Lake! We visit Wenatchee quite a bit for shopping, doctor visits and random day trips. Hopefully someday we will all cross paths for corgi visit! Take care!
