Corgi sitting for 2 weeks

My husband and I have the opportunity to babysit my mom's dog Rex for 2 weeks starting Sunday. I'm super excited, but I'm pretty sure the other half is a bit nervous. He's never had dogs, so doesn't really know how to be around them. It'll also be different as I've never had a dog in town before. On the farm we just open the door and they charge around where ever they want. The whole take it for a walk idea will be interesting. Thank goodness it's supposed to get above zero next week! Rex is… Continue

I don't think we can power a rocket with her poos, but I swear she plays dumb to trick us :).

Yes, newfs do, indeed, drool buckets and buckets. It's been worth it to me and my husband, but both of us work on keeping the house cleaned of newf drool. I have cleaned drool off walls, ceilings, doors, tabletops, and even the ceiling fan. I've heard people tell of non-drooling (or newfs that drool only a little) but I've never seen one for myself. Until I have proof, I'm going to consider that to be just another urban myth.

I don't believe he was raised around cats. From what I have read, however, Corgis seems to 'like' cats. At least that's what a dog magazine I read said. I suppose the cat would just have to be okay with being 'herded' occasionally. :)

Kristina -

First off, welcome!

Not sure if you would be interested, but my corgi Emma's daddy (JR) is up for adoption. He is 20 mo. old, handsome sable and white corgi. He is house trained and very well mannered. His owner is looking for a loving home for him. Just thought I would mention it. :)

Kristina, we also went with Sandy at Dahlhousekennels.com and have been very happy with Gem as well, she was well socialized and a sweetie from the get go so definitely check her out! Iooked for a breeder for a long time close to home here in Mn and wish I would've known sooner about her! Definitely go with a Corgi if you are getting a new puppy!!!! good luck and check out our profile!!

Hi there! We went through http://www.dahlhousekennels.com and have been exceedingly happy with our Chloe and also all the wonderful advice Sandy had to give us. They are out of Waverly and we got our little girl for $400. If you let them know in advance what sort of temperament and markings you're looking for, she'll start looking at the puppies they have throughout the summer for one that's perfect for you. :) Best of luck and no matter where you go, you've chosen a wonderful breed!
