Almost sunset. Our bivouac is nearby on a neighboring 6900' peaklet. We'll get back just in time for sunset. It's open country, more corgi-friendly than these rocks suggest.

The mountain scenery here is astonishing -- the North Cascades of Washington from the east and north, near the Canadian border  -- and this photo op was serendipitous, not as posed as my pics usually have to be (I'm really slow with a camera) -- I just happened to look back, and there it was.  This is just before sunset, hence the good lighting.

I agree with Jane, in fact I'd say this is one of your best photos even though it doesn't have the usual dramatic background.
