Here is the latest news on "my" diet. I am down to 42 lbs! I feel so much better. Now I am simply a really big male Corgi, but no longer a really fat male Corgi. You can see four new pictures of me and my slimmer look.

Well, the low calorie diet, carrot treats, and better exercise worked. I assume that the vet will be satisfied with this weight.

Berkeley continues to be an absolute doll. You can put your face right next to his and know that you will only get licked. You wouldn't want to try that with the Westie that I owned as a kid! (Not unless you wanted instant plastic surgery.)

Hi Carl, Pam and Berkeley. thanks for the comment on Steve's beach picture. I was so busy taking pictures that I didn't realize how much bigger the german shepherd was until I got home and downloaded the pictures.
I love the picture of Berkeley going down the stairs and the happy look on his face - very sweet.

Hello Corgi lovers! We posted one new "real" Corgi picture and one new "fake" Corgi picture.
Good news on Berkeley's weight. Our vet was concerned when he weighed in at 48 pounds -- up from 46 pounds at ~1 1/2. Although he is an exceptionally large Corgi, he is too heavy. We switched to a more dietetic food and smaller portions. And all of his treats are now carrots or vegetable; no more dog biscuits for training. After 3 weeks he has gone from 48 to 44 1/2 pounds. We will try to be diligent and help him reduce to 40.
Berkeley is also getting longer, more vigorous walks in a field near our house, where he is well-behaved off leash. I'll put some better pictures up in another month so he can show off his new, svelter form.
