There certainly is a great deal of information on the "raw" diet out there on the net.  For some people  it is a religion.  I figure I can split the difference Dipper gets raw meat on the bone two or…Continue

Every day I take a shower.  Every day I put a cloth bath mat down so that when I step out of the shower I'm not on the tiles all wet.  And every day Dipper sneaks in--and he only does this when my…Continue

While out of town I left Dipper with neighbors.  He's very popular, and has stayed at three different houses on my block.   Anyhow Robin's dog died earlier this year and she had expressed an interest…Continue

Corgeniscia Canetitis

I was stunned to learn today that Dipper is really a poodle.  It turns out that many dogs get infected at a young age with Corgeniscia Canetitis a devastating virus which causes their leg development to truncate and their ears to enlarge and stiffen, and in many cases lighten the fur to pastel browns and whites. When this happens unscrupulous breeders often market the dog as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, but it is a fraudulent claim that will not be borne out by genetic testing.  If your so-called…See More

GPN replied to Doglover's discussion What trouble has your Corgi gotten into today?
"I'm surprised at the story actually.  Dogs are scavengers and have a pretty tough resistance to the usual dead thing bacteria.  The dog across the street ate a flattened squirrel that had been on the road for three days and barfed it…"

"I've got hardwood floors, but I have almost always fed my Cardi his raw meaty bones outside, either on the grass or on our balcony's cement. I get the necks from the butcher's - I call to ask if they can hold 3-4 kilos worth and then…"

"So with the chicken necks, do you have to get them from a dog food specific supplier? And how do you deal with raw stuff on your floors/carpet? I can imagine that if I gave Nellie a bone or a neck she'd drag that thing along the ground and…"

"Ace used to be on prey model raw and I kept him right at the 2% adult body weight mark for his portion sizes (so that was roughly 220g). What that generally meant was that if he was being given something like a chicken leg quarter, which is around…"

GPN replied to Doglover's discussion What trouble has your Corgi gotten into today?
"Well he has to get into doggie jail when I leave the house (a hall area sealed off with a child fence).  Otherwise he shreds books and magazines.  He does shred certain toys rather quickly but they are his to shred.   He doesn't…"

Leash training: how I stopped the lagging Corgi syndrome

Posted on March 20, 2012 at 1:52pm 0 Comments

My dog, like many on this list, was not a leash-puller from in front but from behind.  I was very inspired by this video:

dog leash video

My puppy had become extremely leash resistant, it was a struggle getting him to the corner.   Putting treats down as the woman in the video does helped a lot to break that dynamic.  I also took a hint from a training book and…
