Retired Book aholic who loves to take Kirby Geocaching!
About My Corgi(s):
Kirby is a bit over weight but he's well loved. We don't know where he came from but when we got him from the humane society he had pink toenails and weight 53 lbs. We've got him down to 43 and still working on the weight
Well... Computer died and finally got a used one to work from. As for Poor ol Kirby he's doing well even after a bad tumble which screwed up his hip and back (he went after a deer and went off a retaining wall about 1 mile from the house took me 20 minutes to find him) He is losing weight now that all the family is no longer feeding him cheese behind my back and his favorite godparents aren't feeding him things when he visits. We still have a ways too go.
If I thought people at home feed the corgi, my father, kirby's grandfather is worse! Lets see there was the turkey, the ham, the cheese, the crackers, the .... need I go on? That dog is not going to lose this month. Guess come deep snow and all the other stuff Kirby and I will have to work out when I get him out of here.
Hi Kate! Another fellow hoosier here! I've found the only "people" food we can give our dogs are baby carrots , banannas, apple, and cucumber. I feel like I starve my dogs, and they are still overweight according to the vet.
Hi Kate,
I just love those expressive eyes. I understand that cheese has too much salt content for the good of the dog. If you like to give it cheese, maybe you can consider cheese for dogs from the petshop. Give it as a treat sparingly. Regular feeding of treats can cause weight gain. :o)
LOL! Mine eat the carpet too. Thank goodness we only have one room with carpet! Corgis will eat til they pop. They will plead and beg. Moira can lay on a great guilt trip, believe me! But it's all worth it when I see her happy, bouncy and with a waist! Good luck!
He is so cute. My duke has a pink foot. Well, the hair between his toes are pink. Kirby and Duke could be brothers, they almost look alike. :-)
So glad to hear the weight is coming off. He has some very loving owners.
I love the sweatshirt and shoes! Too cute. If you get a chance check out my blog on Moira the Chubby Corgi and an article I found online about an obese corgi. I'm glad you're working with Kirby on weight. It's a big deal with those stubby long bodies. Glad to have you aboard!!!!
