My husband and I have been married for 44 years and have 3 adult children. When my husband retired we moved from North FL. to our 80 acres in the Florida Panhandle. We love living in the country and are very secluded. We like the small town atmosphere.
Welsh Corgi Breeder?
No
About My Corgi(s):
We have 2 Pembrokes; brother and sister named Max and Sophie. They are 20 months and full of energy! We had 2 before Max and Sophie. They were not related but were male and female. We missed them so much when they died and couldn't wait to get more. I would have 2 more now but husband thinks 2 is plenty. He's probably right!
That's how our litter mates, Dylan and Emily were. They'd chase each other til they dropped, and then she'd lick his ears to sleep. Their breeder would not separate them and she was right.
Max and Sophie are so beautiful. I had male and female litter mates before Lucy and Ricky. Two is definitely more fun than one! It's hard to just have one corgi.
Hi Pat! I recently started adding the pumpkin and I was so surprised how much she seems to like it - and it seems to be helping!
As for Sophie's hip dysplasia, the vet said she wouldn't be eligible for a hip replacement (I'm not sure why) - but she will be eligible for the FHO surgery. He wants to see her again in February so we can see if I got the weight off of her and if it is helping with her hips. THe weight she has lost already has made a world of difference. Right now she is doing very well. She just turned 2 in August. Down the road we will probably have to face the surgery.
Good luck with Max and Sophie and changing their diet a bit. Let me know how things go! They look great - but you know I think sometimes with a corgi every bite counts! They can pack on weight really quickly.
Max and Sophie are so adorable! It sounds like you live on a beautiful place - quiet with so much room to move - free of the noise. I'm a country girl too.
awww. thanks so much. rafa really is a doll. he's very calm and relaxed. TG for the crate. I can get some alone time with lucy and rafa can get needed naps. see, i wasn't kidding when i said that seeing your guys made me want a 2nd corgi! i only hope that one day they will bond like yours. i love the photos of your corgis sleeping together and their puppy pictures––actually i love all your photos. hope to post some of rafa and lucy soon. maybe over the weekend when i have my husband home and a 2nd pair of hands.
Aw that is a shame... I want to get healthy corgi's but they (as a breed) are just so hard to find in florida! They just aren't popular here I guess, I have only seen two the whole time I have lived here. I take my dogs to Parkway, but I have taken them to Banfield in Petsmart too before... where do you take yours? I used to have a really good vet when I lived in Gainesville, so any recomendations would be great :)
