Hi Petra....yes, Butter has a very deep chest and very broad bone structure. Even at 55 lbs the vet doesn't think he is very overweight. He has probably lost about 3 lbs. He does have a lot of muscle. Corgis and particularly Cardigans are very rare in this part of Canada so I haven't seen another to compare him too.

I have spent a lot of time on your website and blogs and video and just love looking at your dogs. You take excellent photos...are you a photographer too?

Hi Petra, thanks for asking. Butter is having problems with his front legs...damage and inflammation from having a lot of movement over 10 years. He went lame shortly after we bought a pug puppy. Then he was on anti-inflammatories for 10 days and improved. Now he is off them and in pain again. He can only go on two tiny walks a day (when he is up to it). Very hard for him because he used to leap in the air and loved to run and go for long walks. I don't know how safe it is for him to be on these drugs long-term.

I love your brown dogs; brindle, I guess. Their body structure reminds me of Butter; also their facial look. How big do your males get? Butter was up to 55 lbs and really wasn't too overweight.

Thanks, Joy and Baby Butter

PS I don't think the link is working but you can go to My Page and click on Butter's video, the Butter Butter Song. Joy and Baby Butter (Hardly a Baby at 53 lbs! LOL)

Hi Petra, I'll see if this works. It is a link to one of Butter's videos. Just wonder if you have seen a European Cardigan do this?

Hi, Petra--what beautiful dogs you have and we love all the snow pictures. Bilbo looks as mischievous as I am. The last time I went "swimming" was in Mom's garden pond which has lots of frogs but also a lot of dead leaves on the bottom. Naturally, after my plunge in the pond I had to have a bath. Now, was that fair???

They have a soft, fatty feel. They are not hard.

Hi there. I have kind of a strange question for you. Finnigan has these "lumps" on his back legs, almost like elbows. I didn't really notice them until I took a picture where they were very visible and it made me wonder if that is normal. I figured since you are breeding Cardis you would know if this is normal or not. In the pictures, look at his back haunches. I appreciate your input.

Thanks! She is a pretty tri-color and has some brindle points. We think she is great! Has my husband wrapped around her paw. Great companion and almost a year since we got her and she is starting to really settle in.
