I'm a student with lots of pets. I love horses, sugar gliders and dogs. People consider me an animal freak as I keep quite a few exotic pets. To name a few, gliders, dogs, cats, fat tail gerbils, geckos, hedgehogs, tarantulas, BTS etc.
My favourite dog breeds are German Shepherds, Pembroke Corgis and the Nova Scotia Duck-tolling Retriever. I don't really like cats but I like Munchkin cats, they do resemble corgis with their extremely cute and short legs. :D
About My Corgi(s):
Naughty energizer bunny called Salsa.
Salsa is a mismarked red-headed tricoloured Pembroke Corgi. Mother is a sable and white and father is a red and white. To me she looks like a painting but when the painter was painting her forehead, he accidentally splash too much white on one side. I like her unique mismarks and even though my sister is convinced she's the devil who chewed her shoe, we love her to bits. :D
The first time I saw Salsa's picture, I felt very strangely drawn to her adorable face and unique markings. She was for sale together with her brothers, and she was the only sheila in the litter. Her mother's lineage is from Taiwan and her father is the current Malaysian Champ for the corgi breed. The father was born in Japan, travelled to Taiwan and later to Malaysia.
Everyday I found myself going back to her sales thread and looking at her picture. From then I knew I had fallen in love with this short-legged cutie. On the day I went to view her, I found myself bringing her home. >.<
Although soooo incredibly naughty, energetic and kinda nippy, she still manages to steal our hearts (except my sister's) as well as everyone else's. She loves going to the beach, following us wherever we go and can't resist the urge to jump to greet every person she meets, even muslim citizens, though when near them she's always on a leash.
Hi there, im melissa... live in Penang... would like to enquire... is it hard to get prmbroke corgi in KL.. please introduce me.. if you know... thanks
More sad news, we took her to a second vet for a second opinion and the vet said there was nothing we could do for her until the joint actually does dislocate. Now both hips have not improved and her shoulder has started clicking. I'm worried sick about her condition even though she can still run and jump normally, just that when her joints calcify with age, then the real problem begins.
We're keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for the best. Considering visiting a homeopatist that loves dogs to maybe help her. The homeopatist claimed she has treated her own dog for hip problems and it worked. Worth a try?
I have some sad news. Yesterday I noticed Salsa's joint have a very bony clicking sound and took her to see the vet today.
She was diagnosed with a severe case of joint problem, namely hip dysplasia. This is sad because we were planning to breed her on her second heat and was getting excited to go to a dog show soon in search for the best and most handsome suitor for her. She has good lineage, being that her father is the Malaysian Champ.
It's sad that we won't live the dream of little corgi puppies running around and climbing all over us, but it's okay. We still love you Salsa. :)
Funny thing about splashing too much white paint on one side, kind of like Shelby's nose. Shelby chews on a little more than shoes... try everthing she can get a hold of! By the way, welcome to Mycorgi!!
