Milo has been home for a week now. He's been a very good boy and frankly I'm impressed at how sweet and gentle he is with me. I didn't really have much to expect but when I saw him I felt he was worth trying to save and find a home.

So far this week, I've found out that he doesn't like having his tail touched whatsoever. He never had a carrot in his life. He's never had a kong with peanut butter and yogurt either. He is a happy boy and is always excited to see me after meals and when I get home. I love how his tail wags! He's the only dog with a full tail in our house so it's kind of refreshing to see.

He's remarkably gentle when I first hand fed him. He eats food but never do I feel any teeth on my palms. He will not take any treat for the first time unless I hold it. It is an odd quirk that Freya also shares. I kind of feel like the momma showing them the ropes. I eat some of it sometimes and after that they are ok with whatever it is I'm treating them with. Carrots are definitely a funny thing--neither my pup or Milo knew what to do when it came to it.

After Milo didn't really understand his yogurt and kibble stuffed kong I left him before work, I taught him what it was for last night. I had to hold it for 10 minutes and he finished it. Hopefully, he understands what its for as I left him one this morning too. I found that kongs before works makes the dogs a lot happier to go in their crates (except for Milo--but he had x amount of days in a shelter so I understand.) He will also go after a ball but won't bring it back. I only did it once to see if he knew what to do. I'll have to wait until he gets treated and gets better before we work on it more.

Milo is awesome in the house! He hasn't even peed or marked or pooped in the house at any time. He hasn't destroyed anything either (though our two is giving him the run for the money on that project--sigh.) We left him out when we napped and he just chilled out on the floor. He doesn't beg for food so far--which is also a refreshing thing. He will beg for treats though. The only time I ever heard him whining was last night--when I was cleaning my rats' cage in the bathroom and had to lock him out. He stayed by the door the entire time whining. Poor boy...

He really surprised me on the leash. The first night he slipped his lead and I never knew it. He came to me just as easily and I slipped it over his head. He only pulls on the first lap--trying to get all that pee out I guess--and after that he's by my side. The only bad thing that could happen is if there's a cat. He tries to chase after them (to hunt? or just to do so.)

He is horribly food aggressive when it comes to his food with other dogs around. That won't be too much of an issue as we feed everyone separately. I just wish they would all get along. That would be sooo awesome! He's slowly grasping the sit command. He begs automatically on his hind legs, which is pretty darn cute.
