Mike, reading about you and your puppy breaks my heart. I don't know if your Mom knew what she was getting into, but your puppy is being a normal pup, NOT a bad dog! He will need gentle care and patient training. It's not easy but the rewards will really be worth it. You need to learn a LOT about caring for a puppy. Use this resource, I have learned more here than from any book.

My daughter is also 16 and she is Sidney's "mommy". She takes him to training, feeds him, exercises him and cleans up after him. He loves her so mauch and is her shadow. You can do it, just follow the good advice and tell your mom that your pup will learn over time. Please be very nice to him and don't get frustrated or angry with him. He's just an innocent baby. Try to convince your mom to get you and him in a training class, or read about it on the interwebs and try yourself, but ask here about the right techniques for a corgi.

And if things don't work out and you have to find him another home, PLEASE go through Corgi Rescue since they will place him in a home where they know how to handle corgis. I hope you will check in later with good news; I want your pup to have a happy life.

I believe the pet store owner misinformed you. While you should not take him outside to a lot of places where there are many other dogs about, you certainly should take him outside for pee and poop training. Do try to find a spot where there are not a lot of other dogs. The risk is that he could contract Parvovirus from contact with other dogs' poop before he has his last puppy shots around 16 weeks old. He will not catch a cold going outside to potty. After he has his final shots, you should be able to go out all you like.

o as reward i give him pieces of chicken that he loves from the pet store. and i dont leave food there in the bowl all day cuz the pet store owner said he will be overweight if i leave food in there. and i let him out when im in the house. but when i go to school he is locked in his cage. and i cant let him out of the house because the pet store owner said i need to wait 4 weeks after i get him ( 3 more weeks to go) to let him out of the house because hes still too young and will catch a cold.

well, that can be a problem...are you letting him out of the kennel to roam when you let him out to go potty? also, are you free feeding him-meaning, letting him eat from a food bowl all day? are there any toys he uses? what are you doing as reward?

All puppies, not just Corgis, come home not knowing where to pee or poop. They don't know their teeth hurt us humans when they nip. They don't know not to eat the furniture, your underwear, or anything else. That's why we humans need training to teach the dog how to be nice. If you don't have a way to get to training classes, then you might want to purchase a couple of books on dog training. $1.500 is a lot for a Corgi...I would guess he came from a pet store?

im 16 years old... actually im lucky i even got him( charlie) and my mom doesnt like him
shes mad that charlie is such a bad boy. she said i shouldve gotten a dog thats not as hyper as a corgi. and i dont think theres a chance that my mom would sign him up for a doggy kindergarden class. she spent about 1.5k usd on charlie and she is not so happy.

I have the same situation with Wyatt, he gets very aggressive, growls, bites, and goes kujo! We have tried everything and he seems to be getting better. When he starts getting fiesty I tell him "no" and put him in the crate for 2 minutes, it seems to work, since nothing else does. Definatly get into some training.

Are you old enough to take him to a puppy kindergarden class? If not, you're mom needs to sign him up and take him for some training so that he learns better behavior.

my pup doesnt play with his toys. i have 4 tenis balls 3 hard fake bones , 1 rubber chewy bone shaped toy that makes a squeeky sound when pinched. he does not play with them. he sniffs it and walks away. and im not playing with him non stop. i just walk around the room and he follows and start going crazy. if i dont stop walking he bites me. and i have to jump on the sofa and he runs away. i tried yelling ow when he bite me but he doesnt seem to notice it and keep on going crazy. when i dont give him attention he goes off playing with something else. i let him out of his crate to let him run around and not being locked up too much. but he pees and poop so quick i cant even stop him . once he pees or poops my mom yells and tells me to lock him up in his crate again. so im really stuck.
