White Deer

Henry and the rest of the pack are walked in the woods each morning early (6 am) during the summer. We're lucky in living in the Corvallis area because we are surrounded by the OSU (Oregon State University) research forests. They allow off leash, under control dogs on the trails, and gated roads.

Returning from the woods yesterday morning my friend and I saw a white deer. At first Tina though it was a rabbit. You must remember this is early, especially for a night person and WHITE, deer aren't suppose to be white! Tina finally realize what we were seeing when we saw the regular colored deer standing near it.

I'm a extremely thrilled to see this animal and wish I'd had the wits to grab my cell phone and get at least a blurry picture. Oh well, I can still see it in my minds eye.

Comment by Suzanne on May 8, 2008 at 6:17pm: WOW! Our's wasn't that white. He/she (hard to tell this time of year) looked almost yellow lab color. If I remember right white deer are sacred to the native american people.

Comment by Lauren on May 7, 2008 at 4:13pm: we used to have a white deer that lived around my neighborhood, it was an all white, georgeous buck. we would see it ever now and again, it was usually spotted maybe once a month-2months, i only saw him a couple of times but our neighbors alway told us about it.well we havent seen it in a while but i think it had a kid that is also a buck and is leading a herd now. i think the ll white one died sometime last year but here is a picture of what the other one looks like

this is its kid, i think it was bred between the white one and a normal deer
