Neuter neuter neuter! And other stuff.

Roscoe got neutered on Thursday. He just had to stay at the vet for the day (not overnight). My boyfriend dropped him off and I got him that evening. He was awake, but looked so drugged out. Like, he would focus on me, but I could tell he was so out of it. He slept on the way home, and made it outside to pee and potty fine that evening. Then he pretty much dropped for the night. It was the first time in a while I got to cuddle and hold him without him trying to play. He was back to normal Friday. He pulled his stitches out on Saturday, but the wound looks fine and seems to be healing ok. I'm excited, as once he's fully healed we can start hitting dog parks and once he hits six months Doggy Daycare!

Shots and neutering are done - that's all the routine puppy expenses done (yay!). Yesterday was puppy training class - last week we did Come & Stay. He's doing ok with stay - I can get about 3-4 steps away. He did great with come in class, but that's about the only place. Yesterday we did Come w/ Sit, which he did great at. Then we did more socializing (Sit for greeting other people), more stay. Next time we meet is tricks! We'll be working on the basics for a while. He's great at Drop It (seeing as I use it every day about 10 times a day). We need more work on Stay and Come. I make him sit before we go out for a walk or to potty, and he's taking it well - this morning he was sitting automatically before I would open the door for him.

Roscoe is 4.5 months old. When I brought him in for his first check-up at 11 weeks, I asked the vet when he could get neutered. The vet said "technically, we could do that now." But he wanted to wait until he had his full set of shots since he would be around other animals in the clinic.

Awesome! How hold is Roscoe? My vet told me I shouldn't get Grover fixed until he was 6months old? Is that true or just my vet's preference?
By the way, I had a dog named Roscoe when I was a kid and he was just the sweetest and smart dog! Definitely a good name! :) Congrats on Roscoe doing so well in puppy school!!
