Early Saturday morning Roscoe and I headed to Arbor Hills Nature Reserve for a walk. The nature reserve has several walking tracks, and creeks and such; the area makes for a great walk/bike, and you can bring your dog as well. Morning is pretty much the only tolerable time to get most outdoor activity done, the heat is making it more uncomfortable as summer goes along. The place had a good amount of people, but it wasn't terrible crowded. Roscoe did well on the walk, and he spent some time in a creek to cool off (I posted pics of him in the creek).
Sunday was puppy class (next week we graduate), where we reviewed and learned some tricks. I'm not really spending much time teaching him tricks, instead working a lot on the stay/leave it stuff. He still barks and barks at the cat, I'm not having any luck getting that to decrease. She spurs him on by slapping and growling at him, which makes him think she's playing. I wish she had some claws so he wouldn't think her slapping him was all fun and games - he won't find it so fun if I bring another cat in the house that does have claws.
After puppy class, we went to our first visit to the dog park. We spent some time on the big dog side, then a bit on the small dog side. Roscoe was much more comfortable on the small dog side, as more of those dogs were more likely to give him the time of day. He was fine all around, kept close to Bobby and me, and there were no fights or difficulties. One owner had a 1-year old Cardgian - my boyfriend remarked it was odd to see one with a tail. When we went over to the small dog side, a Pomeranian tried to hump him, which freaked Roscoe out. It was great to see this little puffball trying to mount Roscoe as he flattened his ears back and kept trying to run away. We eventually seperated them. After the dog park, Roscoe went for another dip in a nearby creek, and then it was nap time for basically the rest of the day.
