Alright, Kiwi is 5 1/2 months, and she has begun to lose her puppy teeth, and as a result her breath is absolutely atrocious. I spoke to a vet tech at the veterinary hospital and she said that cutting teeth can cause bad breath in puppies. So...my question is, does anybody know of any remedies, even temporary, to help with puppy halitosis? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as we are at the mercy of our pup with the fishy breath...

i was also little concerned about giving anything thats not originally for dogs but my vets said that the oranges were perfectly fine as an occasional treat

Thanks to everyone so far, we've been brushing her teeth since she was a baby, just to get her used to the idea of a toothbrush in her mouth, she seems to like it. We've been doing it much more frequently lately...so we'll keep it up, and I'll see if I can find some of the oral care stuff. Thanks again!!

At PetSmart we have this wonderful stuff called "Oral Care." It's above the toothpaste and brushes. It's a tasteless liquid that you add to water. It's made a marked difference in the Clan's collective breath. We love it!

You can also put that in your dog's water to help with bad breath. Also when she gets her adult teeth in it is a good idea to brush them.

Citrus fruit is NOT GOOD for dogs. The acidity can cause bowel problems and diarrhea.

there are usually some special bones that help with puppy breath. just check out petsmart etc..
sometimes when toto's breath smells bad, i give him 2 pieces of orange. he usually gobbles down the first piece but since he knows he's probably not gonna get anymore, he spends about 20 minutes licking the second piece. it seems to work well for toto's breath!
