How does your corgi react to fireworks all week long....leading up to the 4th?

I have noticed latelty that Lance is very barky......and also seems like he is on edge a bit. When he barked I would go to look out the front window and couldnt see anyone. This happened several times. Finally I have come to the conclusion that he must be hearing fireworks that we can not hear! The 4th of July is only a few days away. They have never really seemed to bother him much before, do fireworks bother them as they get older more? I know alot of dogs will go and hide but it seems like Lance goes into protective mode, barking and barking and jumping up at you, as to say,"What is going on?" What do you notice with your corgi?

Yes Lance seemed to do ok with them when he was a puppy but for some reason he just is acting unsure this year. I think he feels like something is wrong/happening and he comes to us to let us know we should be doing something about it! To help calm him I put him on the leash for awhile and hold it and he seems to do better. Good luck also, hope your puppies do ok. I thought it would be an interesting topic.

Hmm... thanks for bringing up the topic! It's good to know that Kuma might not be immune to fireworks after all! He had his first dose of arial fireworks last weekend and actually ended up falling asleep through it! I wanted to attribute it to his day of intense play... but we'll see I guess...

I've had my corgi for 6 years and he has never had a problem with fireworks until this weekend. I took him camping which he loves, he just sniffs around and never loses sight of me. I had some friends that thought it would be fun to bring fireworks. As soon as the first one went off I could see Havoc from the corner of my eye run straight into the darkness of the woods. I ran after him yelling his name and he didn't return. Fear started to run through me as Havoc has never left my side. The only thing I could think of was my car was parked a block away and maybe he went there. Sure enough Havoc was pushed up against my car and a bush shaking....it was so dark all I could see was his little white face. So your question do firework bother them as they get older.....I think yes..lol.

Mandy hides under the bed. Poor babies. I bet they will all be glad when the 4th is over. Mandy is scared to go out to potty at night because of the fireworks, we have to lure her out there and then it takes her a while to potty because she is nervous from all of the noise.

Brody has figured out to just go in the basement (family room) and wait it out. We let him know early on that the barking and jumping was not ok, and I guess he learned that this too shall pass.

yeah, we live 1 mile away from the stadium, so we get front "door" seat to the fireworks, while every is watching, Vienna hides under the family car and wait for us to finish :)

Lola hates all loud noises, especially fireworks. She barks, runs, and hides under anything. She comes out once in awhile to see if I'm ok and then goes back into hiding. So we try to keep her as calm as possible during these times.
