Okay, we're all having a major debate on this end about something, so hopefully I can turn to some Corgi owners and get some good advice.

Well, wait, we're Corgi owners, we're all good, right? *grin*

So, here's the situation. I'm having some graphics done to match my logo for the shop - basically, we were looking for something to put on the back of shirts as well as the front, so that you can tell who works there from both sides. Poor employees will now get harassed both coming and going, I guess.

However, I'd love to hear some opinions besides mine, I've been looking at these for the last few days and going back and forth on these finals. My employees and I apparently completely disagree for once, whoops. Oh well, I'm about ready to let Riley pick. "Whatever his paw lands on is the way we go! Enough said!" ;)

(Sorry if it's a bit fuzzy, I only have a low-res copy loaded. This is on the front 'pocket' area.)

I see picture that could be dog or teddy bear, and the name of places. It's not quite clear for me what exactly the business is about, could be pet's school or something about pet. It's cute though.

Nah, no, I'm looking for opinions, and these are very helpful ones -- thank you so much for a professional eye and a personal one! It's extremely valued, thank you, thank you all, very very much. You've brought up a lot of good ideas, thank you all!

To be honest, I didn't even think of the PetSmart connection in the slightest, at all! So, I'm glad that was pointed out! I wanted the Corgi chasing a ball, just to give some fun to the logo. I think we could make the ball blue or maybe yellow, like a tennis ball? The only reason I had it red was because of the "Collar" of our original one and tying them both in.

Now, I was leaning towards number 10 myself, but the employees were for 9 - my eye tends to think that's more of a 'finished' design. Now, one of the things we could do was change the black text to white for screening, too.

Oh heck yes (thank you, Sam, greatly appreciated for your expertise in this matter) in this day and age I'm sure watchful for a lawsuit of any sort, sad to say. I've been in one over something business contract related years ago, and while I won hands down once the facts were presented it was a waste of my time and a lot of sleepless nights. So I'd much rather not do that again, whew!

I like the first two, but if you were to use 9 or 10 i would leave a space (erasing some of the circle) where the squiggle bounce goes through.

I am all for simplicity as well, but without the white circle background, the black text will not be readable either. That's why I picked no.10. Now if the designer is open for change, I'll say take the white circle out, bring the text to the bottom and work on the typography.

Now if you want to keep the "ball" idea, just change the color of the ball, this is something that I tell my clients, you do not want to get into a lawsuit with any big corporation. The world is never fair and don't think it will not happen to you, think Apple VS Beatles over the use of "apple" or The $54 Million Pants. There are no winners in any lawsuit, you lose time and sanity. Your business is your blood and sweat, don't take the easy route.

Hm... glad my mind was working the same as another marketing person... The ball on the logo isn't bouncing off the store name so it's not that similar... I like #10. Man, giving marketing advice for free... I think we should be getting paid. JK!

I like the 2nd set... number 10. Looks like he's playing with the ball and laying on a mat, plus it gives it more a dash of color. The other one without the circles looks like it's just in nowhere land. The logo without the ball... not sure why he is jumping?? Perhaps it's normal corgi frapping around. Well those are my thoughts on the new logos. The original is cute too.

Okay, as a marketing person, my vote is for no.10. Here's why, the red ball balances out the heavy orange on the right, plus it tells the viewer that this is a pet store WITH accessories, without the ball it will just mean dogs. The surrounding text with the white background is a lot more readable on paper, letterhead, t-shirt, but not stitches or embroiled textile. My suggestion is abbreviate the text heavy word "washington", because you want your clients to remember "Bainbridge Island". Same principal can be found on the "Levi's" brand, the word "San Francisco" take a back seat.

The only draw back with the no.10 logo is, the red ball idea is too close to petsmart, just the opposite direction.

Just my opinion, but I am all for simplicity. I like the logos without the circles. If you are looking at embroidering the logo on anything it will stand out better. I do like the ball on the second set. It is a nice little bit of color to draw your eye and provides a bit of action. I love the stylized Corgi.

Oh, the original Logo? Sure, one second, I should have it a low-res on this machine, let me dig it up and edit it into the blog post. (Sorry, I'm doing that whole ordering thing today from the computer so I'm flip flopping all over the place, and waiting to hear back from a rep. Yay for my day off, ha ha, there's no such thing when you own your own business, right? ;) )

Thanks, Sam!
