Goodspeed, Piper.

This is my favorite picture of Piper. She hated the camera. So this isn't the most technical picture, sure, but it's the one I call Piper's Road. Road behind her. Road in front of her, and a happy, happy Piper in the middle, running along. That was Piper -- never crabby, never sad, just licky and happy and bouncy.

Two weeks before Christmas,…

Hey, don't steal my dog!

Actually, this is an odd one, and I know a lot of you post photos so I have to share this little bit of caution.

Normally, I don't mind my photos being passed along as long as there's a point back to me, or if it's for non-profit. However, someone out there actually well... stole my dogs and is claiming them as their own. (They didn't change Simon's name though, but they changed Caleb's. Poor Libbers, he always takes second fiddle to his big brother.)

I kind of…

Clash of the Sofa Titans

It was a day of sitting. A day of raining. A day of utter inside boredom that had to be rectified, through any means.

So our mighty (and rather short) hero takes these matters into his own short paws...

...

... *cue dramatic music*

"Oh ho, foul feline villian! I am liberating this comfy sofa from your clawed clutches!"

"We do battle, tooth… Continue

Rehoming Corgi - Seattle Area.

Home found and he's doing awesome in it! Thank you for all your help! :D

I don't have all the details yet, and I've only met the dog a few times myself.

However, he's coming here tomorrow morning to foster with me and I'll evaluate him and get a better picture of what he's like...

Edit - okay, this is a NICE dog. A really, really nice dog. If I didn't have four of my own I'd take this guy, but he really deserves a home where he can be an only child. I… Continue

Pudge, pudge go away....

Hey, I don't do too many entries, but this one deserved one on its own, since I know a lot of you have similar weight issues with your Corgis.

Riley at his high point was 42.2 lbs, ugh. I felt bad, because it was honestly not his fault (well, or really mine either.)

My vet and I were baffled for years, to the point where we were going to put him on drugs for the issue, as a last resort. We had to get the weight off this dog. We drew blood, expected there to be a thyroid… Continue

Doors open... :)

People have been so, so nice. I can't say how much I appreciate that. My back counter had flowers all over it all last week. think I could stock a florist's shop. I've gotten cards in the mail from a lot of friends, several of them here. I just... I cannot thank everyone enough, for their kind words and support. I am so, so honored that Gabriel was so well-loved, and made a lot of people proud of him (and a lot of them laugh at us.) I've had so many people say, "He had a great life," and he… Continue

Conclusion - last sad thing for a bit, hopefully.

I got back Gabriel's autopsy results yesterday. The diagnosis was a sudden internal bacterial infection that went instantly septic. The vets talked to me for a while - there's no way they'll ever really know where it was or began. It could have been something as minor as a tiny cut in his mouth that just healed up instantly but trapped a pocket of bacteria and it spread through his bloodstream to his heart and internal organs. They honestly don't think there's anything anyone could have done,… Continue

My dear friend passed yesterday...

Normally, I'm pretty private, I guess. I don't share a lot of personal things, but this one hits near and dear to all dog owners, so I think I have to for once. Bear with me, if I sound like I'm rambling for a moment.

Gabriel, my German Shepherd and SAR dog, died yesterday morning. Everyone, including me is shocked - the vet staff was in tears, and my vet feels horrible, he's like, "I had no idea he was that ill, none. He went home last night looking better."

He started… Continue

I always forget...

How different each new puppy is.

I also seem to have forgotten that everything chewable must be lifted out of mouth range and put somewhere else out of said mouth range, otherwise, you're in for some surprises. Like, the sort of surprises when the puppy comes dragging your underwear out from the dirty clothes to hand it off to a guest, or where it tears apart a feather-stuffed futon in an effort to bury a bone for later.

(Nah, he hasn't done that yet. I have to at least… Continue

Logo opinions...

Okay, we're all having a major debate on this end about something, so hopefully I can turn to some Corgi owners and get some good advice.

Well, wait, we're Corgi owners, we're all good, right? *grin*

So, here's the situation. I'm having some graphics done to match my logo for the shop - basically, we were looking for something to put on the back of shirts as well as the front, so that you can tell who works there from both sides. Poor employees will now get harassed both… Continue
