First, big thanks to Cheryl for coming to visit yesterday. Her visit was enough excitement that the dogs didn't need their evening walk! HA! Sometime last night, I woke up to get some water and I found Tigger curled up in the too small cat bed. My 30lb corgi looked embarrassed to be seen trying to curl up in a a bed made for a 10lb cat! Tigger is feeling much better thanks to the pain meds. He's on restricted exercise, but he hasn't felt like doing much until this morning. I made the mistake of letting him out of the back yard and not going with him. Before I know it, I hear a bark and see a blur of red and white! I chased after him to make sure he didn't get wound up!

Molly is enjoying her alone time in the mornings. We go out for a seperate walk after I've given Tigger a short walk.

Why do BOTH seem to find the same pile of mystery poo in the park? Whatever it is- they both seem to find it tasty! YUCK! I have to watch them like hawks and they both give me dirty looks when I make them drop it!

OMG! That is horrible!! Poor puppy, but at least she didn't have to get the 2nd set of shots!

It's a long aggravating story and different topic, but the vet tech told me something two weeks after we started treatment that made me decide to go get her retested at a second clinic. She was misdiagnosed and doesn't have heartworm like my regular vet said. I feel terrible that we put her through so much pain and discomfort with the first injection, but at least she doesn't have to go through two more shots.

Hi Charlie, Tigger is getting the three-stage version- but he will get the 2nd stage within 21 days. Day 1 and Day 3 were the worst days...on Day 4, I gave him pain meds and now he is so much better. I hope your new dog is recovering well too!

Poor Tigger! Did the vet do a two-stage treatment (two shots over two days) or the three-stage (one shot, then two more shots 30-days later)? I know it's a painful treatment...arsenic based...can't be a good thing right? I recently brought home a 3 year-old dog who was diagnosed with HW and we started the first injection of the 3-stage treatment early this month. The first 3 days, she was clearly very tender and sore at the injection site, very restless like she could not get comfortable, and seemed to have some anxiety attacks. Fortunately after 3 or 4 days, she seemed to be over the worst of the arsenic injection side-effects. Hopefully Tigger is also getting over the effects from the shot and his body can just focus now on getting rid of those nasty worms. Get well soon, Tigger!

Here is a link...it doesn't replace traditional medicine...just works with it. Tig has been through a lot in the last few months- owner neglect, abandoned by his family and returned to the breeder, given to me, painful treatment for heartworms. I thought he needed a little positive, calming re-inforcement.

What is energy work?
Comment by Katie on July 31, 2008 at 11:28am
Tigger got energy work done last night. He started talking and talking- he was very vocal. After the work was done, he stood up on his hind legs one time, which is an improvement because he hadn't before last night. He isn't so worried about his back and his haunches anymore when you touch them, but he still isn't jumping anywhere. I think he also may have been a little constipated (sorry!)- I don't know if it was from the treatment or the pain meds but that started to 'clear itself out' ;-) soon after the energy work.

Hope you feel better soon Tigger : )

Thanks Juel! Poor Tig was miserable over the weekend. I knew he was feeling better when he started talking to me again. He's almost back to the terror that I know and love. I think his haunches and back legs are still sore because he will not jump at all.
