Well Banzai is hitting the adolescent stage. How can we tell? The biting. You can be sitting on the couch with your hands resting in your lap, and he'll charge up his stairs just to attack and gnaw on your hands. We remove his steps from the couch and set him down on the floor. He then walks a little ways and pees. Why yes, the good old defiance pee. That, "I'm angry at my father and you can't tell me what to do," pee.

We try to give him his toys but the second he sees your hands, he wants those. We yelp, say "no bite," turn around and ignore him. He gets it a little, but there is something about our hands that drives him nuts. He must have them! Once we do it enough I know that he will get it for sure. We just have to keep it up.

It looks like we are going to have to take away some of his privileges.

Hahaha... Reese sounds like his brother! No matter how many times we tell her NO!, she will still attack hands and feet. I've tripped and accidentally kicked her because she's herding my feet! Reese has good and bad days... some times she is just an Angel, then there are times when she feels the need to test us. I have sprayed bitter apple on her leash so she would stop trying to bite it. I should probably try the peanut butter thing or apple spray our hands and feet. She was doing sooo good with the puppy pads, then one day she decided that she didn't want to use them and just go all over our carpet. Her toys that we have for her so far is holding up pretty well. It's just going to take time for our little pups!

Pups explore their world with their mouth. Many pups delight on chewing on peoples hands. You just keep doing what you are doing and make sure to provide good chew items. Some folks get toys that can be frozen which is comforting to some pups. Teenage stage doesnt usually hit until 8 month to a year. As for the defiance peeing I doubt that is the case. At his tender age he just goes when he goes.

Maybe put a little bit of peanut butter so Banzai will want to lick your hands instead of attack or maybe some bitter apple spray on your hands, maybe that would deter Banzai?
