He is 12 weeks now. It takes him about 10 minutes to wake up when I get home. Sometimes he even don't want to go for a walk! He just does his business and then lies down on his stomach. (not every time, but...) Then he plays about an hour, and goes to sleep. I wonder, is it because he is small, or because he got vaccination shots last Sat.

Currently, he is sleeping again!

Thanks, Owen's Mom and Lexi, for your comments! I feel better now :)

I'd prefer Charlie to sleep 7-8 hours at night, though, when he is Kuma's age :)

Kuma used to take a lot of naps... as Ginny said, I wish he'd take more! He still sleeps quite a bit - at least 8 hours periodically throughout the day.. and his normal 6-7 hours at night. He's 18.5 weeks but I'm noticing he's sleeping less and less (depending on our activity level of course).

I usually have to retrieve him from the kennel at lunch too.. he doesn't want to wake up. The trouble is I only have so long for lunch and I am pretty sure he would like to go pee at some point during my work day

Owen does this too.. it is a big relief sometimes- He'll go from crazy food eating dog (not before only during) to crazy barking dog.. while I'm getting ready in the morning.. then a walk and then passed out dog. We're working on the barking.. Owen is about 14 weeks..

"Passing out" - he-he, that's funny. :)

mine used to collapse (it seemed to us) while playing and sleep. we still call her sleep fall-over "Passing out". Passed out cats and dogs are all over our house.

I think it is probably mostly his age. He's just a baby after all and needs lots and lots of rest while he's growing. Make sure he has a quiet place he can retreat to (a crate, or a bed in a quiet corner) that is his own little time out zone. Puppies have lots of energy, but for short spurts of time. He can probably go on little walks without getting worn out, but then will need to take a nap. Don't worry, give it a few months and he'll be all over the place. You'll wish then that he would nap a bit more!!
