Owen and I went to the park today. I think secretly he hoped to see his corgi friends again. I did to.. he let them clean him - smelly puppy with dirty ears.. nothing like an older dog to put a pup in his place with a good cleaning. Owen doesn't really smell that bad though.. I just thought it was hilarious to watch the three adult corgis go to town on him.

Owen got to play with a lab puppy and had a great time. It warms my heart every time he plays with another dog- proud mommy. He plays well.. I'm guessing it is like good reports from the kindergarden teacher. We walked the loop around the lake (good job Owen .8 mile!) and then sat in the grass. Now first of all I'm not understanding why every family asks to pet Owen (I'm glad they at least ask). I did say no when some kids asked when he was playing with the lab.. that is a nip on the hand waiting to happen. Only one mom asked if he was okay with kids.. smart mom... He is. He only nips Matt and me still **got the paper work for puppy class today**

So after our walk we sat in the shade, got some water, and I read and journaled. I thought that was the international sign for leave me alone (a book, journal and a pen- sleeping dog next to me). Nope people still wanted to pet Owen. And I'm too nice although I was a little irritated at the woman who asked me if I shaved my corgi pup or if his hair was short. I resisted telling her my little boy was perfect. I might be becoming the crazy dog lady...

Even if I wanted to shave Owen, I'm pretty sure he would resist it and lose an ear. Let's just say puppy class is going to be worth far more than $109 to us :). Sure he has sit and lay down down cold but grooming and drop it are something I would probably pay 3 times that right now.

And as always a tired dog is a good dog.. bed time for Owen :)

It is easier to start when they are younger. The moment we got Roxi we played with her feet and ears and used a brush on her at least once a week. Now she's great :) though the new vet has a moving table/weight thing that rises while she's on it... there's uh.. no way to train her for that one lol!

Crazy dog lady :) I think we all think our children are perfect from time to time ;) So no worries! Just don't get into an argument with another corgi owner about who's baby is more perfect LOL!

ahh.. wish we had spots here where we could relax like that.

I was taking Ein for a walk and a little boy came up and asked if he could pet him. I said he could (after I got the ok from the parent) but told him that he was still a puppy and liked to play bite. So, I had Ein sit and allowed the boy to only pet his back. I then got a lecture from the little boy because his dog could be petted everywhere and why couldn't mine be like that...ahh children

oh and i wish i was asked as often. people often assume its ok to give bailey treats and such, and one time he actually threw it up. so im being more serious about it now. I have to stop/interuppt them, they never ask. It's almost like I'm not there... but... its only at certain places! They're really good about asking @ Petsmart, Petco, etc, but random places we go it - its all in the air!

He'll get used to grooming if you do if often enough (even if your not really combing and just make it a habit to bring it out everyday - and give him treats while you go over his fur with it), Bailey used to attack it or want to chew on it but has learned =P. Also, for the "drop it", Bailey hasn't perfected that yet (and will not drop something yummy he has in his mouth - but as for a toy, he will).

"Crazy dog lady" - LOL! Sometimes I get irritated by all the people who want to pet my little Risa, too. And there's A LOT of tourists in our town :)
