Owen and I went to the park today. I think secretly he hoped to see his corgi friends again. I did to.. he let them clean him - smelly puppy with dirty ears.. nothing like an older dog to put a pup in his place with a good cleaning. Owen doesn't really smell that bad though.. I just thought it was hilarious to watch the three adult corgis go to town on him.
Owen got to play with a lab puppy and had a great time. It warms my heart every time he plays with another dog- proud mommy. He plays well.. I'm guessing it is like good reports from the kindergarden teacher. We walked the loop around the lake (good job Owen .8 mile!) and then sat in the grass. Now first of all I'm not understanding why every family asks to pet Owen (I'm glad they at least ask). I did say no when some kids asked when he was playing with the lab.. that is a nip on the hand waiting to happen. Only one mom asked if he was okay with kids.. smart mom... He is. He only nips Matt and me still **got the paper work for puppy class today**
So after our walk we sat in the shade, got some water, and I read and journaled. I thought that was the international sign for leave me alone (a book, journal and a pen- sleeping dog next to me). Nope people still wanted to pet Owen. And I'm too nice although I was a little irritated at the woman who asked me if I shaved my corgi pup or if his hair was short. I resisted telling her my little boy was perfect. I might be becoming the crazy dog lady...
Even if I wanted to shave Owen, I'm pretty sure he would resist it and lose an ear. Let's just say puppy class is going to be worth far more than $109 to us :). Sure he has sit and lay down down cold but grooming and drop it are something I would probably pay 3 times that right now.
And as always a tired dog is a good dog.. bed time for Owen :)
