We celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary with a road trip up to the Bay Area. We were hesistant about bringing the dogs because its such a long drive and we didn't know how they would handle it, but decided it wouldn't be the same without them and planned a trip to include them in the fun.
Fortunately, the dogs did great in the car... even on the hairpin turns of the PCH!! The trip up took 11 hours, but we made frequent stops to let them run around.

doing what we do best
We spent the weekend in San Francisco before heading up to Napa Valley. Coincidentally, it was the annual
"Dog Days of Summer" game at AT&T Park! Now we're hard core LA Dodger fans, but we couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy a game at arguably one of the most beautiful ballparks in the country with the dogs - even if it is the home of our hated rivals. We're not into dressing up our dogs, but we couldn't help but bust out our
matching aloha outfits for the pre-game parade around the field. It was an unbelievable experience. 500+ dogs at a baseball game!!

The entire bleacher section was reserved for dogs and their owners. Can you believe it?? They had wading pools throughout so dogs could cool off. SF/SPCA volunteers walked around during the whole game refilling the water bowls to keep the dogs hydrated. The whole event was very well organized and managed. I only wish Dodger Stadium could pull off something like this.
all together now: "giants suck!!" ;)

After the game, we took them to dog-friendly
Crissy Field near the Golden Gate Bridge to run around on the beach. Wet dogs everywhere!!
just another foggy afternoon in SF
The next day we continued up to Napa Valley. Many hotels and wineries there are dog friendly! We would highly recommend the
Vintage Inn in Yountville. The concierge there sent us a link to all the
dog friendly wineries so we limited our visits to those. Since it wasn't too busy, the dogs were even invited into the tasting rooms! They would get a little restless while we were sniffing, swirling and sipping (i.e., pretending to be wine-o's), but they got so much attention from other guests and pourers, I'm sure they didn't mind.
guess we'll have to be the DDD - designated dog drivers
The only place the dogs weren't allowed was The French Laundry, where we officially celebrated our first year anniversary. But that's probably a good thing :)
