Well, Friday night/Saturday morning Ike hit us like a ton of bricks. The house sustained minimal damage. Some leaks that we'll get fixed soon. Some fences down. We were lucky
Didi was actually very calm during the storm. She watched us with a somewhat increased vigilance and didn't sleep through the entire thing, but she was calm. More calm than we were at times.
We didn't have power from 8pm Friday night to 3am Monday morning. We only stayed at home Saturday and Saturday night. She nearly gave me a heart attack during that time. We were keeping the doors open because it was bloody hot outside and while I was talking to a neighbor she disappeared. I ran around like a mad person until I found her standing in the house like "What mom? I was getting a drink-i-poo." I yelled at her, of course, because she scared me and it was my fault. After a few hours without A/C and stress, tempers were not at their best. Later that day I couldn't find her again and called her. She ran in the house covered from ankles to eyelids with mud. Wee-oo.
Sunday my sister got power so we went over there to sleep and eat and get properly clean. Didi came too and layed very politely in the corner of the house I camped out in. She slept like a dead dog.
Monday morning we had pooower so we went home and Didi got a good scrub down (and I did too) and we set about putting the house right.
I'm actually pretty proud of her. She got into minimal trouble for all the trouble going on.

Good to know you guys made it through okay. I live in LA and I know from what I've seen, ike hit Texas a lot harder than Gustav hit us. It didn't phase Dax at all, he's not scared of anything but trash bags and things that spray. :D We were without electricity for a week, and I'm sure I don't have to tell you it was the most miserable week of my life. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know I feel your pain on the whole power-outage thing. :)

That's the spirit Didi! A mud bath cures all ills! Glad that you and your family are all right and that you are, for now, clean and rejuvenated again! Gotta go and find some mud myself! Corgi kisses from Tasha, Bear and Linus, Williamsburg, VA

Glad you made it through! :] Jack was a nervous wreck during the whole thing, though, I wasn't much better...

Sure glad to hear that you are all okay. Wondered how close your city was to the area affected. Didi sure was a good protector of you. It is neat to read that once she felt you were safe that she slept. Corgi's are such great dogs! Good girl Didi!!!
