We are hanging in there!

Yes guys your support really helps! I feel So much happier when I come on here and chat with everyone! It is nice to now others have shared this pain and can help talk about it. I have been reading books on pet loss and watching old videos, looking at old photos, and hugging my cats. So I am doing ok. My dad is babysitting the neighbors dogs right now so that is helping him. We still tear up when we talk about him because he is missed! But We are making it through this tough time. I keep begging my husband to let me get a corgi pup a Riley jr, but he is not for sure about it, so for now I will just keep being annoying until I can one day get my way:)

A funny memory I had the other day was when I would do cardio exercise in the living room at home Riley would get excited and bark at me while he bit my ankles and ran around like a crazy dog. He never bit hard it was like a game we played. He would herd me around lol When I layed down to do sit ups he would come out of nowhere and give me kisses lol He always wanted my attention...spoiled spoiled...He was the best! I He was so patient. If I was in the middle of something and told him"wait a minute" He would just sit there and stare at me waiting and as soon as I said "ok" he would run to the door or wherever we were going. Smart boy!

Comment by penny spencer on October 10, 2008 at 9:41am: My best friend picked up her Zoeys' ashes today. Zoey "aka Dr. Z) was 15 yrs old! I've told her about you and Riley and about your "Riley shrine" and she thought it sweet too. My husband and I took her to have her Sweet Pea put to sleep in spring also. She was 13! It was later in the evening, her vet was closed and Sweetie was having so much difficulty breathing, Sue didn't want her to wait until morning. We took her to an ER vet and they were so kind to come out to the car while Sue and Don held her. Of course, we were all crying. At one time Sue has had
up to 12 dogs! all rescues. She's lost 6 within 2 yrs. All spoiled rotten and loved to distraction. I hope I come back some day as one of her dogs ha! Wanted to share this with you. Take care.

Wiggles and I thought about you today when we went to the beach - he loves to go and chase the waves, but doesn't like coming home to a bath! Glad you and Riley got to go to the beach. When you lose a heart dog, which I know you had in Riley, it is so hard to move on. It is good to see that you are ready for another pup. It took me three years to move on. You are in our thoughts.

We (my husband and I) have had the privledge of owning 7 dogs in our 30 plus years together, and of the five that have already left us, some too soon, I have happy memories of them all!
We lost our most recent dog this past summer, Duke at age 8 from a stroke.
We have had all sorts of dogs from mutts to purebred, and we have loved them all. I can't imagine a life without having a dog by my side!!
When you are ready, do get another!!
We have had our Corgi, Penni for 4 years and she is my little companion!! I would get another right now if my husband would let me!!
I just wish the best for you and your family!
My husband missed Duke so badly he had to get another St. Bernard! So now we have Zeb!
I just had to leave a note for you, it reminded me of when we lost Duke.
