Bernie was excited to go to class the entire time I was packing my bag. She was excited the entire car ride there.
I don't know what I'm doing different or what is different about her but it is fantastic. She has speed, confidence, and is really paying attention to my handling signals. I ran my butt off tonight and broke in my cleats keeping up with her. We did a full standard course of 20 obstacles and a short 10 obstacle jumpers course with some distance work. Bernie was a little unsure about going so far from me (one jump required her to go about 15 feet away and then come back, despite my "go" signal she still came back towards me) but I pushed her hard and she got it on my last try.
It is so weird, we go to practice on Sundays after I'm done assisting on classes and she runs off on me and ignores me. I ended up putting her on leash for the rest of our work Sunday because she just was more interested in jumping in the pool and looking for squirrels than working on sequences. We did do some work on our start-line stay that paid off a lot tonight.
I think if this continues throughout the fall and winter we might be ready for another trial next year. It really is like shes a whole different dog.
One of the husbands that comes to help his wife told me he loves watching Bernie run because she just pops over the jumps. I think it is because we have the no-tail advantage.
