Hi everyone!

Bella has just turned 6 months, and I have been noticing signs that she might come on heat soon...so I urgently booked an appointment with the vet to get her spayed. Shame my poor little girl, I'm very nervous for her. I'm gonna do everything I can to make her feel better....she is definitely going to be spoilt rotten :-)

I am just worried about our other dog. Is it a bad idea to leave them together? I am just worried that he might touch or lick her stitches...and I want everything to go smoothly.

Has anyone else spayed their dog and been able to leave that dog with other dogs during healing?

It could be a couple of things. Dominance..she is hurt and hes trying to be dominant. In the wild if one is hurt or shows weakness the pack will attack that one. If you ever watch a pack out together if one squeels the rest will pounce on them. Or it could be the sent from the surgery. You are the alpha of your little pack and your not using him for breeding so discipline him and let him know this is not acceptable behavior.

Bella's surgery went really well!! We picked her up yesterday afternoon, and she's been doing really well.
She was a little droopy, but she doesnt seem to be in any pain. The only problem now is that our 3 month old Beagle keeps trying to mount/hump her...it's really bugging me. I have to keep them seperated. Not that he will get her pregnant, but he doesnt leave her alone...and Im worried he might harm her.
Is this normal? He never used to be that interested in her...in that way. Why now?

Lily did wonderful after her surgery. I was worried how she would do, but she surprised me. I think Bella will do fine and your other puppy will sense that something is different and might even take care of her. Hope she does well :)

They should be fine but limit activity for a few days and you'll just have to keep an eye on it but should be trouble free.

I just recently had Kitty spayed(15 monthes old)and I,too, felt a bit nervous. But, she came through it with flying colors! I have an 8yr. old female lab who was wonderful with her, didn't touch or lick her stitches. She was gentle with her until Kitty was ready to rough-house with her, again, which turned out to be fairly soon. What I did find, was that because Corgis are so low and tend to lay flat out with their legs out behind them, that the incision are got irritated after a few days from dirt. So,I just gently cleaned the area and put a little neosporin in and around the stitches-this is what my vet friend told me to do.Don't worry~it'll turn out fine :)
