winnie loves to chew.... i am so happy it isn't destructive, but i wish i could find a toy that lasted more than a few rounds with her. at the cost of 10$ a toy and about 4 toys every two weeks we will be broke soon.

I feel bad as I am sure her teathing isn't fun but i don't understand how she destroys things so quickly. her wubba kong had one "leg" chewed in about 10 min of good quality chewing time... the first time we gave it to her.

In other news we have just started the stay command and her reaction is as soon as you put your hand out she starts barking... she is still in a "stay" just a rather loud one...

Winnie also finally met a doggy she wasn't scared of... turns out she just has some size hang-ups and she was more that willing to play with a doggy half her size.

that's all for now

have you tried a regular kong?..without legs... i bought my boyfriend's dog a big kong to keep him busy so he wouldnt bother me to play while I was doing homework, and that thing is a lifesaver. He chews and chews and chews, and the thing looks brand new still. oh yea...he's a 60 lb pit bull... =) and the kong is very much alive!

Hi, it's true that Goodwill has stuffed animals really cheap. (When your dog's past the puppy stage, this might be useful.)

Every time I go to Goodwill, I buy 3 or 4 new stuffed animals for 50 cents apiece. I let my dogs play with them until they start pulling the stuffing out (this takes a few days or few weeks, or never, depending on the toy). Then, I grab the injured toy and throw it on the pile of other injured toys. Every so often, I sew up the holes and put those toys back into circulation.

Brianna, my chihuahua-corgi, likes to chew the eyes off if they're hard. We have a lot of blind stuffed animals.

I've started buying some dental rawhide chews -- C.E.T. HEXtra by Virbac. Both dogs will keep busy working on these for a while. Both dogs' breath improved noticeably.

My dogs also ((LOVE)) these rawhide roll-ups that are wrapped in dried chicken. They're about $8 for a package of 8, but it keeps them busy for a while.

There are also some compressed rawhide bones (they're formed into a stereotypical 'bone' shape). These are almost too hard for my dogs, and consequently, they seem to abandon them after a while.

haha, yes we are on the second key ring (which she broke in a few hours yesterday) and she does love a good bully stick. We have saved the keys from the rings but winnie has quite the destructive talent.

Plush doesn't stand a chance, but we have been getting some of the balistic nylon toys (wubba, bamboo man) but those don't last very long either.

Thanks for the suggestions. in the last weeks she has gotten 4 adult teeth on top and 2 on the bottom break through.

Have you tried bully sticks? Unlike rawhide, they're more digestible. They take Ginny quite a while to chew through and she really seems to like them. She loves "flossies" too, but she chews through them really quickly. If Winnie likes plush toys, I have a friend who sometimes goes to the goodwill and gets plush toys there really cheap for her dog, you just have to make sure they don't have any buttons or anything on them that Winnie could chew off and swallow.

Poor Winnie - teething is no fun. I know what you mean about the $$. If she still loves to chew when she gets older (mine does!) you can get her the things that last longer, like the hard nylabones, but as a puppy we are stuck getting the slightly softer versions, which they destroy so quickly. We had somewhat good luck with the nylabone key ring.. made to look like the popular infants chew toy. She did destroy it, but as I recall it lasted longer than all of the others. Good luck. P.S. Winnie is a cutie! Tracie
