Ugh

Somedays i wish i lived by myself... im tired people telling me how to raise my puppy... if im playing with my dog and he is barking SO WHAT it is play it will not turn him into a yapper ugh... Ace doesnt bark at everything and if he is barking while we play it doesnt mean anything... ugh.. im frustrated.. I loved being out at my brothers house this last weekend with Ace because there was a respect out there... John was trying to help me with Ace and his training and wasnt comprimising it... and if i played with him andhe barked there was no 'shut that dog up' 'your turning him into a yapper' 'must he bark' ace only barks when we play, when i tell him speak.. or when he has to go potty each bark is different... its frustrating me

Is it wrong for Ace to have a voice?

Comment by Sam Tsang on June 4, 2010 at 10:14am: well... be nice and respectful to your neighbours, there are many examples in the news where dogs are being poison or shot (both owner and dog) due to angry neighbours. We've had members here whose's corgi was poisoned in their own yard, so its very real and you never know the mental stability of the ones who live near you, sometimes what trigger the button can be a surprise.

It's like having a new baby-- everyone will give you their two cents, and it's up to you to be a filter, not a sponge. Just make sure that whatever you do, it's consistent. Have your friends reenforce your chosen disciplines. I caught a babysitter smacking my puppy's face for being mouthy-- let me tell you, her butt was out my front door in five seconds flat!

Remember that as a parent, it's your job to know what's best, and for everyone else to respect that.
