It's me, Sidney the Corgi again! Today my people were away in the morning and afternoon, so I got some serious naptime in. Good thing too, because when they got home they said it was walk time! Oh boy! Not just any walk time, but we were going out to the lagoon! After Mom unloaded the back of the SUV, me and the other two dogs, the old ones, were loaded into the car and off we went! It was late afternoon when we started out. I had never been to this lagoon before, and it was full of so many good smells. We met lots and lots of dogs out enjoying the day with their humans. Most of them were bigger than me, but some were smaller. Those little guys sure are noisy; I have much more dignity than that! There were also lots of birds, a bunch of stink bugs, and a scary looking thing called a Jerusalem cricket! Bruce, one of the old dogs, tried to sniff it and backed away fast. I think it tried to bite him.
The whole walk was over three miles! I think the humans ate too much Easter dinner and felt they needed to exercise extra. The sun was just going down when we got back to the car. I was so tired after the long walk that I fell asleep on the way home. I'm just a little puppy and that was a long way to walk!
Oh, and the new collar is not so bad. It just makes a little "zzzt" sound when I pull too much, so it reminds me to calm down. I was told I did much better on my walk today. Personally I think it was because I was so distracted with all the interesting smells and sounds! I hope we go back to the lagoon soon.
Next week we are going on another long walk. This time it is to raise something important called "money" to help the poor dogs and cats who don't have a human family to live with. They have shelter while they wait for a human to come make them part of their family, so this money will help the animals in the shelter to have food and warm blankets and medicine. This walk will be even longer than the lagoon walk we took today, so I'd better be ready! I hear there will be lots and lots of dogs with their humans there to help earn money. Oh boy, I can't wait!
Until next time, bye-bye! Off to find a chewie and get some sleep!
