Such a good boy!

Korben surprised me last night! I work very late hours since I work from home so I usually go to bed around 4 am or so. Well, every night before I go to sleep, I go and get a big glass of ice water. As soon as I crack that ice tray, Korben comes running to the kitchen looking to get a late night treat. So, I will find one of the smaller ice cubes and hand it to him. He will take it out of my hand and then he starts munching away at it, then when I am finished in the kitchen, I will tell him to pick it up and then direct him to take into the room. Well last night was the same as always, I went and got some ice water and Korben was waiting outside to kitchen to get his late night ice cube. So, I hand it to him and I finish up in the kitchen. Except this time, instead of finding him munching on it, he was sitting patiently with it in his mouth and when I came out of the ktichen, he automatically went into the room to start eating it. I was so proud to see him display such patience! Korben is constantly impressing me with how intelligent and cognitive he can be! (not to mention silly and quirky!) We'll have to see if he keeps doing that every night now, or if he was just in a particularly good mood.

Comment by CaptainCorgi on April 7, 2008 at 12:05pm: Awww that's too cute! I bet he will eventually always do that. My corgi does things by herself now which I've been telling her to do all her life. Now instead of snatching anything she wants to eat or chew on that she finds, she sits patiently by it and waits until I come into the room and say she can have it or not. <3 They're such smart dogs! I hope your little one enjoys his ice cubes!

Comment by Tim Finks on April 6, 2008 at 6:52pm: I wonder why dogs like ice. My GSH pointers loved iced cubes too, and so does my friend's pit bull; Lucky. Is it cause they have something to chew on? Or maybe it's the combo from it; a chew toy, and a refreshing "drink". Has anyone ever tried flavored ice cubes? That sounds like a good idea for a treat.

Every time I go to the freezer and shake the ice bag (I buy my ice at the store) Zephyr comes RUNNING. She loooves icecubes. She'll take them over to where I sit on the couch and munched on them by my feet. It's kinda a weird thing for me because I hate the sound of crunching ice, but she likes it so much that I let her do it.
