My local newspaper, Peoria Journal Star, has a pet idol contest which is raising money for newspaper in education. All donations received in this event benefit Newspapers in Education, which encourages literacy and broadens students' community and global perspectives through use of the newspaper in the classroom. Rosie is Pet #501 and votes are 25 cents each, 20 votes for $5.00.
