A question for all corgi owners does anybody know the answer?.

Hi All,

A question that somebody maybe able to confirm?.

My Vet told me when Oscar was a puppy at his first visit to the vet you will notice the white marking on the back of Oscars head. My vet referred to it as the Duchess's thumb print and that it was a sign of good luck for Oscar!. Can anybody confirm this and let me know. I do know from his Pedigree Papers that on his father's side his Great Great Grandfather was from Queen Elizabeth's Royal Corgi's!. This I have had confirmed!.

Congratulations on Oscar's royal bloodlines! I've never personally heard the story of the Duchess' thumbprint, but there are many wonderful tales about Corgis and their connection with royalty, faeries, etc., and  we could certainly add your vet's story of "the Duchess' thumbprint" to the lore.

I have also heard of such marks (circular white spot on back of head) referred to as "fairy kisses." Then of course there is the fairy saddle lore. On another blog post, John Wolff said that when Corgis are frapping, they are giving a fairy a ride...my personal favorite explanation so far!

May the Good Luck of the Corgi favor us all.
