So my hubby got a job at John Hopkins University.  We're currently out in Woodbury, MN.  We need to find housing as close to the university (address: 615 N Wolfe St, Baltimore, MD 21205 ) as possible that allows dogs.  We are trying to find housing for $1000 or less a month.  We've seen a few places that match that description, but most have bad reviews. In fact, some seem to be near crime centers out there.  Not good.  We have a 2007 Jeep Wrangler and a 2006 Ford Focus that's bright red with ground effects and a wing (it came that way, I swear). I know they're big bullseyes in some areas.

Is there anyone from there, is there, or from near there that can give me any advice?

We're kind of frustrated out here.

Thank you all for your advice. :)  My hubby's future boss is actually trying to get that info available to my hubby by tomorrow.  He's also defined which neighborhoods are on the "you don't want to live there" list.  So that is good at least.  It's kind of funny how the town houses are coming up less expensive out there.  It tends to be the opposite here.  We're trying to be 5 miles or less from campus because my husband is going to be on call for a particular piece of lab equipment.

Have you check with the off campus housing office?

Hey,

I live in baltimore during the week ( i go to md nursing). I currently live in a townhouse with roomates and overall I feel pretty safe in the city, i am in ridgeleys delight near the orioles stadium and pickles pub.my neighbor hood is mostly college students and some young families.  If you look at the school housing sites some people advertise townhouses for rent( no sharing) and many allow pets. Its usually alot cheaper than being in an apartment building. when i was looking  for housing in an apartment it was going to be 800 a month( with another person) and this was before my pet deposit and utilities. you can also look at craigslist baltimore for housing ( not as sketchy as you would think). If you plan on coming out you can look at some neighborhoods. are you going to be driving or walking to work? if your driving you might be able to look at more areas that arent too far.

also with all this parrallel parking and leaving my car out on the street i havent had any problems. just keep it clean inside, dont leave anything of value inside or visible.

in terms of safety just don't go out at night alone, pretty much basic stuff. lock your doors and carry some pepper spray. i havent had to use it  yet.
