Good morning All,
I'm reading more and more about ACL & Hip Displysia in our corgi's now I'm worried for Oscar as he is now what we class as a senior! 10 years I have him on weight management ekanuba I also have him on the Barf Diet( bones & raw food plus raw vegs carrots some pumpkin though I have read pumpkin is high in sugar!. Oscar and Sam also get 1000 mgs of fish oil capsule everyday. We limit how much Oscar runs around in the park with Sam but he loves it! Sam is only 5 and has boundless energy!. A few times I have seen Oscar limp but not for long we put it down to his age as 70 in human years!. My Partner Paul is a Registered Nurse and is home more than me and he keeps an eye on Oscar because he knows my paranoia when it comes to Oscar & Sam Hey their our Children!.
Now I'm more concerned about ACL & Hip Displysia!. Oscar passes his health checks every year with flying colours!. My Vet tells me he has the heart rate of a 3 year old his teeth are in perfect condition and we have to watch his weight!.
Could anybody put some light on my above concerns before I call my vet to speak with her and take Oscar in for the once over!. My vet knows I love my animals and will do whatever it takes!.
What are your views on the above?
Regards
Brian , Oscar & Sam

In my opinion...less regular food is better than weight management. Pumkin is ok and is good fiber just make sure it's the plain pumpkin and not daily. Frozen green beans are great and also broccoli. Just like for people...try to feed less carbs and more veggies and good protein.
