My husband and I went to Tokyo for a few weeks. Milo was at home with the grandparents for over 2 weeks. He is known to go up to our photo and whimper or growl - this means he misses us. He's asking where we are. He mostly does this with my husband's photo because he travels more frequently.
We decided to tell the grandparents to take the dogs to the yard so we can slowly enter the house without them noticing. We were waiting in the kitchen for 5 minutes until they came up. Guess what? Milo was so shocked and couldn't stop wagging his little stubby tail and attacking us with his licks. We had corgi DNA all over our face, forehead, neck, and ears.
I know dogs are known to be very friendly and loyal. But when your own dog shows genuine love, affection, and admiration for you, you feel like all those times taking him out to poop in the cold was worth it. All those vet bills are worth it. All of those fur cleanups are worth it.
Once we took him home, he went everywhere we went - bathroom, kitchen, and even pantry, he just wanted to follow us and not leave our side. He feels completely safe and carefree with us because he knows we will always be there for him.
I wish Corgis can live forever.
