Hi! I have a question and would like to know if anyone has any advise. I have two almost 1year old pembrok welsh corgis. When I let them out side they go straight to the fence to fight with the dog next door. The dog next door is mean too, but my two go nuts with it. They bite each other and attach each other when they are at the fence. They also go after my other dog (who is blind and old) when he barks at them. They can get very aggresive when the other dogs fuss at them. Does anyone have any advise on how to stop this? I have been bit many times breaking these fights apart. My male corgi is the worst. He wont let go of my older dog when he attacks. He tries to kill him. I am so afraid that one of these days he is going to seriously hurt my Carin. I do the deciplin thing everytime it happens. This has happened about 8 times since I had the puppies. I get the news papper the hose but I just dont know how to keep it from happening. I dont know what the proper way of dicipling my male corgi is. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I seriously advise that you get the dog Whisperers DVD on how to be the pack leader. You can purchase it on line on his website. I will give you the knowlege that you need. I have 3 different breeds, all stubborn, but I am the big dog here! There have been "tiffs", but when I say ENOUGH, all activities cease. Huge help, that Ceaser Millan is. Good Luck and keep me posted.

Gus sometimes gets aggressive with Pearl and we give him "time outs". It's something we learned in obedience class and it really helps-lets him know the behavior is not acceptable and gives him time to cool off. When he starts to fight seriously (not play fight) we say sternly "that's it!" and point him towards the bathroom. He actually goes (it only took a few times to teach him this!) and we close the door and leave him in there for about 1-3 minutes. When he comes out, he is really much better and won't fight again for awhile.

Do you have a privacy fence? If not, they help a lot. With your other dog, Carin, try to use positive reinforcement when your corgis are around him. (This was on the most recent episode of "It's Me or the Dog" on Animal Planet). Give them treats they will love (on the show they used warm hot dogs) when around Carin, as well as giving the treats to Carin. This will teach your corgis that good things happen when they are around Carin when they behave nicely.

are your corgis spayed/neutered? That's the first thing that came to mind to help w/this behavior.
