Just rescued/adopted 2 wonderful pembrokes - the momma is turning 4 and has some serious lower back/rump injuries...the previous owner did finally take her to a vet and they removed lots of dead skin due to infection and maggots (YUCK)...my vet is now doing cold lazer therapy and I swear after 1 treatment her skin/sores look so much better.  I am to do water therapy at home with flushes of warm water 5 minutes a day.  Continue anti-biotics and she is on a diet (healthy one)...seems her previous just threw cheap chow in a bowl and eat what you want, how sad:(  She never had any vaccines until this injury and then got a 3 year rabies...WTH?)

Her son, which we ended up paying for, is just a doll.  Tri-color and looks like my Emma!  He is very wide and flat and they didn't dock his tail so it is long and waggy.  He is also a doll-baby and enjoying the extra attention, I don't think they got lots of that!  He and his mom are "fixed" but more than likely by a drive-by -clinic which is better than nothing.  He never had any vaccines other than the first puppy rabies which they offer around here for $5 at a clinic.

So they both had the works done today at my favorite vet, heartworm/lymes/etc free altho Jack the son had some hookworms.  My vet felt very fortunate that was all that either had, sometimes these neglected ones have all kinds of problems.

So number #1, my Emma, is not quite so sure about these new comers!  First of all Emma has DM and altho can sort of get around, has a hard time.  We are getting her used to her wheel-cart (special ordered from Eddie's Wheels...great job) she still has some use of her hind legs so I let her do what she can.  Iwonder if she sees these 2 corgis getting around with no problem and wonders about herself.  She is such a sweetie and is being strong thru this DM process...lot me tell you it SUCKS to watch your wonderful friend have problems like this!  She gets embarrassed and frusterated I am sure:(~  I have RA and I guess Emma and I can relate!

My elderly mom will be taking Katie (the injured corgi) for a while.  We just had to put down her 13 plus year old mutt, but Katie will eventually end up here and in the meantime have lots of visitis,  Jack will stay with me and Emma (and Trav the 12 year old yellow lab and Squirt the 11 year old English Setter)...should be interesting journey...maybe! I will keep up on this blog, there are so many fun things to write about with corgis....and chickens!  But that is another story in that!

Bestest Wishes to all...Nancy, Emma, Jack and Katie & the Foxwood gang!

"Good on you" as our Aussie friends say, for rescuing those two and giving them a chance at a happy life.  I'm sorry about Emma, I lost my sweet Tinsel to DM and it's a tough thing to watch so I know what you're going through.  Hang in there and love Emma to bits so her days are happy; she doesn't really know what's going on, only that she struggles and is loved.
